[02:46:45] That is going to be disruptive in recovering from the long no-deploy period. I would really prefer if the next branch cut not include this so we have one week to catch any other problems before dropping the IE8 bomb. [03:04:18] Krinkle: I disagree; it's much less disruptive to do now than next week when it's just a 'normal' week and people aren't looking out for issues. [03:04:34] Krinkle: Also, it's a one character change in well-tested code. [03:04:53] 1) I'm not worried about the code itself not working [03:05:20] So… what 'problems' are you worried about? [03:05:39] 2) people shouldn't be surprised be it. I assume you'll mail wikitech asap, and it will be in a Tech News issue before prod deployment. (What day of week is that usually?) [03:06:05] 3) I'm mainly worried about things we (wmf) discover, not users. Pertaining to feature use change, analytics, evenlogging, we're losing all of that for IE8. [03:06:22] And again, why in the middle of a freeze with eveyrbody not paying attention. [03:06:23] It's in Tech/News for Monday, yes. I've been waiting all week for you to reply to your post pointing out that it's now done. [03:06:38] Also why David? I assume he didn't do that from his own discovery. This is wrong. [03:07:18] Krinkle: "In the middle of the freeze" is both (a) not true and (b) the already-announced and intended timing. [03:07:30] January is another 3 weeks. [03:07:48] Anyway, I was going to be fine with this week, but it feels a bit like a workaround, self-merge. [03:07:49] I wrote the announce e-mail with you. I remember what the plan was. :-) [03:08:08] Yes, "January", and I assumed you'd involve someone with it. [03:08:09] Hmm? [03:08:32] Quite. The VE loads fine in the browser but it cannot save to parsoid. I get the following error: "Couldn't connect to server: parsoidserver-http-error: (curl error: 7)". Parsoid is up and running. When I hit parsoid TTW as follows: http://localhost:8000/localhost/v3/page/html/Main_Page. It says MW has been successfully installed. It looks like VE can't tal [16:23:38] k to Parsoid. The LocalSettings in MW and and the settings in parsoid look accordingly to the online documentation. Does anyone know of a way to troubleshoot this issue? thank you. [16:35:39] markos: Curl error 7 is 'CURLE_COULDNT_CONNECT' – is the Parsoid host configured right, and does the box running MW have access to it? [16:48:19] James_F: Parsoid and MW are running on the same VM. When I run the following command in the shell I received appropriate parsed output: #$ curl -L http://wikitest:8000/wikitest/v3/page/html/Main_Page. Parsoid's localsettings looks correct to me. How can I run parsoid or VM to print debug information? [16:50:55] http://wikitest:8080/api.php returns the MediaWiki API help. [16:51:55] What do you have the Parsoid connection URL set to in your settings? [16:51:57] wgVirtualRestConfig that is. [17:00:00] James_F: it's set to => http://wikitest:8000 [17:01:30] on CentOS: i have the hosts file entry: 127.0.0.1 wikitest [17:01:52] Is the 'domain' set correctly? [17:03:29] domain => 'wikitest' [17:03:42] prefix => 'wikitest' [17:04:47] http://wikitest:8000/ returns => Welcome to the Parsoid web service [17:07:00] That's odd. No idea, sorry. :-( [17:07:14] Round trip test returns fine => http://wikitest:8000/_rt/mediawikiwiki/Parsoid [17:08:47] yep, that's where I am. Everything looks fine but when i tried to save a document in VE I get the CURL error: 7 [18:04:16] 10VisualEditor, 10VisualEditor-MediaWiki-Media: Appearance of caption box in the Media Settings dialog is wrong (padding?) - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T123126#1921819 (10Whatamidoing-WMF) 3NEW [18:07:52] 10VisualEditor, 10VisualEditor-MediaWiki, 7Easy, 5Patch-For-Review: "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" preference should also apply to summaries with only the section title - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T114857#1921827 (10D3r1ck01) a:5D3r1ck01>3None [18:09:35] 10VisualEditor, 10VisualEditor-MediaWiki, 7Easy: "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" preference should also apply to summaries with only the section title - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T114857#1921844 (10Krenair) [18:13:21] 10VisualEditor: Support Bibtext format on VE when citing a reference - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T123128#1921851 (10Trizek-WMF) 3NEW [23:20:37] 10Citoid, 10VisualEditor: In Citoid, magically follow URLs provided in non-link fields (e.g. link rel="publisher") to scrape more info from there - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T118773#1922251 (10Jonesey95) See discussion here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback#VE_appears_to_p...
