[11:00:21] Hi, I do right now some bulk referencing on wikidata. [11:00:46] Can someone please check if I do ith the right way [11:01:27] Example: Q4448816 [11:02:54] Reference is always the database archINFORM (Q265049) [11:05:22] archINFORM is always linked as authority (P3583) for deep link [11:06:17] Reference example is for P17 [11:06:53] Any comments? [11:07:49] the reference should ideally include P3583 too [11:11:19] Wouldn't be that redundant information? [11:13:24] no, because the reference is separate from the P3583 statement. if the P3582 statement changes or there are multiple P3583 statements, there's no easy way to find out which entry was used as the reference [11:15:31] P3583 is unique and if it changes (in very rare cases!) the change would be effecting all referencing items the same way [11:16:42] mistakes happen, people add ids to the wrong items, people remove ids which should be there, databases accidentally contain duplicates [11:18:01] anyway, it's what https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:Sources#Databases says to do [11:18:50] of course all that can happen, but it shouldn't be the case, that in a certain reference a different P3583 is used than in the general P3583 of an entry. [11:19:53] it shouldn't happen, but how do you detect statements where the reference was taken from a different id than the one currently linked to the item, if you don't track which id you used when referencing? [11:19:53] I changed the example. Do You think it is better this way? [11:20:38] yep, that's what I would do :) [11:21:26] Ok, any other hints? [11:23:20] nothing that I can think of [11:23:58] I'm glad to see someone adding references :)
