[00:54:52] when do proposals make it onto https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Browse_applications ? [01:04:09] saranix, it appears to be based on the "status=" field in the infobox on the proposal pages. (which adds the page to a category, the contents of which are displayed on the page you linked) [01:34:47] quiddity: that does not appear to be the case. There are 17 draft proposals under https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Browse_applications but 18 under https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Project/Proposals/Draft [01:38:04] I see it as a now looking at the source but it is caching old results or something? [01:40:05] according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project this should be office hours specifically for this kind of thing. Where is everyone? [01:40:28] saranix, fixed. Yup, it was a caching problem. [01:40:48] ah [01:41:02] so I'm in the right place? :-) [01:42:11] I'm not sure. I was just randomly answering your question, I'm not associated with this/that officehours. I'll see if I can find the relevant people.. [01:42:29] oh, well much thanks [01:44:51] Originaly office hours was anounsed as 2:00-3:00, but later changed to 1:30-2:30. Maybe Wikimedia people don't know about it. [01:47:53] Hi there! Let us know if you have questions about Project Grants. [01:48:20] Hi AlexWang :) I think saranix had a question. (I'm heading off for dinner) [01:48:27] Thanks! [01:52:57] AlexWang, hi. Is it better to ask here or join hangouts? [01:53:06] Either way! [01:55:12] Ok. I just want to ask any good example of software grant proposal. What information you think should be provided for such grants? [01:57:32] Here's a good example: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/WikiProject_X [01:58:14] Have you seen the guidelines we have for software projects? https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Plan#Software [01:59:52] I didn't miss the office hours, did I? [02:02:00] Nope! Hi! [02:03:52] So, deadline is in 22 hours. How much modification of proposals is allowed between then and the 23rd? [02:04:31] harej, did you have a question? [02:05:01] I just sent one! [02:06:08] As much as you want, within the bounds of the project of course. [02:06:42] This next week we will be reviewing for basic eligibility. But during the community review you will be able to improve your proposal as needed. [02:10:09] Excellent, thank you. Also, any major differences between IEG and this new grant program? [02:10:26] From what I can tell, the big changes are (a) lifting the $30K cap and (b) quarterly grants [02:11:28] What will happen between September 6 and October 7? Will the proposal status will be clear after September 6? [02:15:45] Grantees are announced October 7th. [02:16:34] After the committee scores the proposals, WMF staff work with the grantees follow-up on issues raised by the committee and help to improve them. [02:21:16] So there will be possible to fix issues after committee review? [02:22:55] It is possible to fix things after committee review. However, that is if the project proposal is recommended to move forward by the committee [02:23:55] Meaning the committee has to find *some* minimum merit in the proposal. [02:24:18] Even if they don't find it perfect. [02:25:06] 1/2 of the reviewers who review any given proposal have to recommend that it move forward [02:25:21] those with less than 50% recommendations are dropped [02:43:38] I'm unfortunately trying to multi-task. I could use some guidance on my proposal https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Luctari/Wikimedia_Augment and what might be expected moving forward/ to move it forward [03:25:54] guess I missed my tiny window. [03:26:02] Will try again at 21:00? [13:54:00] so *I* was here for both office hours.... [16:47:37] could someone explain a little more what reviewing for basic eligibility of grant proposals consists of? [17:30:36] npdoty: I had a similar question with no answer, I've been hanging here about 30 hours. The 1:30 office hours they showed up at 2:00 and I missed them by 2:30, and they never showed for the 21:00 office hours... [17:31:17] thanks, saranix. I had some confusion about the timing of the office hours or whether IRC was available as well as Google Hangouts [17:31:43] npdoty: it's supposed to be. I don't use Proprietary Chats of any kind, so Evil Hangouts is out for me... [17:37:15] oops I meant 16:00 not 21:00... but yeah no one was here except you and me :-) [17:40:28] Marti_J: are you the Marti Johnson we are looking for?
