[02:41:06] Wiki.wiki is ceasing operations [02:41:08] on December 1, 2017 [02:41:12] why doesn't wikipedia buy that domain? [02:42:10] instead of wasting money on wikitribune which is still has not launched or will ever launch... [03:16:18] WikiTribune is one of Jimmy's projects; it's not affiliated with Wikipedia. [03:30:55] yeah but it will be soon..he will milk it for all its got. [03:40:27] comets: link for the wiki.wiki shutting down? [03:42:17] i got an e-mail cause i had a wiki on it, i can forward it to you, wats your email? :P [03:43:14] nvm, got it [04:04:29] comets: thanks [07:12:13] :D [17:27:16] rfarrand__, hey i see that you edited the devsummit page to change deadline to oct 1 .. so, is it end of sunday of end of saturday? [17:36:37] My understanding is that the deadline is end of Sunday. Basically, recognizing the fact that the people reading the submissions (hopefully) won't be working over the weekend, but would like everything available before they start work on Monday [17:36:41] subbu: ^ [17:36:55] got it. thanks. [17:58:00] uhoh, that's just enabling my procrastination! [18:06:31] given that we're on topic I was wondering if a position statement must be on a single topic/position or can propose a couple of different ideas on different topics [18:10:29] volans: as long as you stay within the size limit, I think more than one topic would be fine [18:10:44] meeple27: ack, thanks! [18:11:07] you could propose how to restructure the proposal process ;) [18:11:16] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Txprzt56j9tye6au [18:13:59] legoktm: and what you infer from that? :) because on the 1 statement we're clear, but a statement can contain different topics in 100-500 words :D [18:15:05] volans: that was the closest thing I could find on the wiki, but you should listen to meeple27 since he's actually part of the organizing commitee :p [18:16:09] Also at least for me 500 words feels really short :p [18:16:14] You are definitely limited to one paper, for administrative reasons [18:17:33] I wish there were statistics for how many position papaers and when they were submitted. I want to know how many people procastinated to last minute [18:17:38] but I can't think of any reason why you couldn't cover 2 topics. The paper will first be used to confirm that your participation would be valuable, and second to decide what sessions to create. Covering 2 topics doesn't seem like it would hurt either of those [18:18:03] 500 words is incredibly short for some people, and incredibly long for others [18:18:49] Oh, the date is now oct 1 [18:19:07] bawolff: shhhhh! We're still trying to get legoktm to turn his in today! [18:19:10] Whatt am I doing, I have a whole 2 more days to procrastinate [18:19:10] legoktm: it's probably super short for me too (at least in mother tongue), but I hope in english I'm able to be more concise... [18:58:52] meeple27: do references count as part of the 500 limit? :) [19:01:00] legoktm: I'm not sure. I suspect if you had 499 words and then 3k of references, that would count against you. if your statement plus references took you to 550, I...well, personally if I were reviewing, I wouldn't have a problem with that, but I'm not sure how those on the PC will feel [19:02:13] heh, alright :) [19:20:31] * ebernhardson is going to guess >50% of submissions will be "last minute" [19:20:53] submitted mine yesterday. way ahead of the game :P
