[03:35:01] legoktm: Hm.. is that so that libraryupgrader commits can land whilst the extension is broken? [03:35:15] is what? [03:35:22] https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/422590 [03:35:26] ah [03:35:27] partly [03:35:35] but also because some of those extensions have been broken for months [03:36:10] I was mostly using libraryupgrader as a way to detect broken extensions [03:36:13] Yeah, but I feel a bit strange about being proactive enough to provide auto fixes but not to fix the test failures, and then disable the jobs. Seems like it was better when it was failing. [03:36:45] I don't midn either way, but I thought it was a good thing that it was failing, then auto fixes sstack up or are held off, until the extension is fixed. [03:36:48] (or archived) [03:37:17] It's not like we're affected by the test failing or by not having a fix land. [03:37:44] it does get in the way of humans trying to contribute, and it also encourages force merging :( [03:38:52] There is no value in contributing until the extension is actually working/passing. And force merging certainly shouldn't happen :) [03:39:28] Sure there is? [03:39:41] Test failures != extension totally broken [03:41:45] Hm.. I guess. There might even be someone who has it installed and upgrades. I'm just worried it gives a false sense of working. I mean.. I'm totally on-board with proactively fixing deprecated calls in all repos. [03:43:44] Oh well, I suppose I just thought that it would discourage fixing the problem by not being as visible. [03:43:48] Nvm :) [05:18:53] Project mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish build #2751: 04FAILURE in 3.5 sec: https://integration.wikimedia.org/ci/job/mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish/2751/ [05:18:54] Project mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish build #2752: 04STILL FAILING in 0.72 sec: https://integration.wikimedia.org/ci/job/mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish/2752/ [05:18:58] Project mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish build #2753: 04STILL FAILING in 3.9 sec: https://integration.wikimedia.org/ci/job/mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish/2753/ [05:20:17] Yippee, build fixed! (re: dcausse problem) [14:26:19] !log removed from deployment-puppetmaster02's ops repo "1ffd6e72a9 WIP Bug T184234" due to git sync failures [14:26:23] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Release_Engineering/SAL [14:26:23] T184234: Puppet broken on deployment-cache-text04 due to varnishkafka issues - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T184234 [14:29:39] also what is that 0:0 thing, that just can't be right. maybe there is nothing wrongly owned [14:31:06] apergos: I really don't know if the 2 problems (scap stalled and perms on deploy1001) are related (likely but not 100% sure) [14:31:25] welp all the files in the directory in question are twentyafterfour wikidev [14:31:28] so meh [14:31:38] I've seen a RECOVERY after I hit Ctrl-C but same here... not 100% it's related [14:31:48] yeah the recovery won't be because of a ^c [14:33:07] you could try again and see what it tells you this time, just let it run if there's space in a dpeloy window [14:33:29] I'm not the expert, all I can say is a number of dpeloys happened yesterday and they were ok [14:34:16] I can try to redeploy indeed, it should be a noop since I rebased tin with the reverted patch [14:34:34] would love guidance from releng before doing that tho [14:35:46] mutante is doing something related now, maybe he would say something [14:37:58] ok [14:38:08] hey, so i just saw your ticket [14:38:18] hey! [14:38:36] so there are currently 3 scap masters in play [14:38:42] this is because we are trying to replace tin [14:38:57] ok [14:39:13] first we installed deploy1001 with stretch, to replace tin [14:39:28] but switching to stretch wasnt possible yet [14:39:34] so deploy1001 was reinstalled with jessie [14:39:36] to match tin [14:40:09] the plan is still to switch from tin to deploy1001 just that they are both identical [14:40:41] mutante: perhaps the scap issue is simply unrelated with all that? [14:41:08] mukunda synced deploy1001 for us last night [14:41:49] the "improperly owned files" issue is something that happens sometimes during deploy [14:41:53] when on tin and when scap says "syncing masters" does it tries to sync files to deploy1001? [14:41:57] but it's recovered [14:42:12] yes, deploy1001 is in the list of masters right now [14:42:18] hm.. [14:42:31] so deploying is slower than if there are just 2 servers [14:42:39] the plan is though to shut down tin [14:42:46] so that it's back to just 2 as always [14:42:51] but it should not take more 10mins to do this? [14:43:05] perhaps I should have simply waited [14:43:16] but was confused by the alert on deploy1001 [14:44:38] i think something may have gone wrong with permissions when deploy1001 was synced on its own [14:44:45] and then it was fixed when you deployed [14:44:55] but now it looks ok [14:45:08] ah but I interrupted scap so it might be in bad state? [14:45:10] what i _can_ also do is remove deploy1001 from the list of scap masters [14:45:33] yea, let me do that then [14:45:55] at one point we need to make the switch though.. instead of going back :p [14:46:10] sure :) [14:55:45] !log removing deploy1001 from scap masters, keeping it as scap host. to avoid issues syncing (slower) to 3 masters but keep it synced as a regular host (T191029) [14:55:48] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Release_Engineering/SAL [14:55:48] T191029: Scap stalled at sync-masters, ok: 1, left: 1 - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T191029 [14:56:52] dcausse: on tin.. deploy1001 has been removed from the list of masters now [14:57:07] mutante: thanks [14:57:34] i left it in the list of hosts.. to keep it synced like a regular appserver [14:57:53] let me know if anything shows up about it again [14:58:33] sure thanks! I'll for releng to comment before attempting another deploy [14:58:48] at some point later i want to actually switch fully to deploy1001 away from tin.. but then we would have to do these things at the same time [14:58:59] make it a master again, sync, and then .. stop using tin [15:04:36] Project mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish build #2787: 04FAILURE in 3.4 sec: https://integration.wikimedia.org/ci/job/mwext-phpunit-coverage-publish/2787/ [15:06:28] Yippee, build fixed! [21:48:36] no_justification also re about status on the project page [21:48:43] we can use the status badges [21:48:51] * paladox wonders what colours we would want to use [21:48:55] i guess blue for active [21:51:16] 10Continuous-Integration-Infrastructure, 10Release-Engineering-Team, 10MediaWiki-extensions-WikibaseRepository, 10Wikidata: selenium test for Wikibase is unstable - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T189762#4093186 (10greg) It appears as that specific cucumber test is the flaky one ("Feature: Using time pr... [21:51:28] SMalyshev: replied on task, tl;dr: looks like one specific cucumber test; ask the author to debug. [21:51:54] greg-g: thanks! [21:52:04] no_justification i've also backported the three patches, /me hopes they will merge it :) [21:53:55] SMalyshev: generally, first line debugging should be done by repo owners/maint and test authors. We can't debug everyone's tests :) [22:00:29] greg-g: understandable :0 [22:00:33] :) [22:01:09] SMalyshev: have a good long weekend :) [22:04:30] 10Gerrit, 10Upstream: Allow searching for 'state:active', 'state:read_only', 'state:hidden' via web interface - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T180297#4093229 (10MarcoAurelio) Would it be possible to fetch the data via an SQL query? [23:42:02] paladox: Probably totally doesn't work, but I did a thing today: https://github.com/demon/websession-redis [23:42:21] oh [23:42:37] I basically forked websession-flatfile, renamed everything, and then started hacking in redis support [23:43:52] :) [23:45:33] no_justification i wonder how we could use the shared file path? [23:45:46] We....don't want shared file paths? [23:45:53] That's the major flaw with the high-availability plugin [23:45:57] And websession-flatfile [23:46:20] I mean, we're not gonna set up NFS or anything [23:46:24] And we don't have Google Magic :) [23:46:26] :p [23:46:33] ah [23:46:39] that's better then :) [23:46:50] So yeah, I'm looking at redis for cache storage. [23:46:56] I started with Websession because it's easiest [23:47:06] But ideally I'd like to move all the h2-backed ones to redis [23:47:14] :) [23:47:17] PROBLEM - Puppet staleness on deployment-maps03 is CRITICAL: CRITICAL: 33.33% of data above the critical threshold [43200.0] [23:54:04] no_justification /me has been working on https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/c/gerrit/+/160072 today :) [23:54:12] im stuck on rewriting the test now [23:54:37] lol it just does not want to update _localMenu even though it's pressed reset [23:54:43] works locally outside of the tests
