[20:41:04] Git status e.a. will consider it as any other, as if not ignored. [20:41:17] The files are added with --force, and then remain normally. [20:41:25] probably gooped up with docker images [20:42:31] Krinkle: that may be the case but certain tools don't consider the git index (i use ripgrep which apparently doesn't) and i'm not sure if it's good idea to rely on that behavior when a file is known to not be ignored [20:44:52] niedzielski: Hm.. it's standard behaviour, not something internal. The design idea behind it is that you won't need to hardcode a detail that can't verify itself. Meaning, if the file is removed or renamed, the info is lagged without triggering a problem, other than the one you experienced with the external tool. As for search specifically, tools usually either search through all files (e.g. ack/grep) or they search through the index (like [20:44:52] git-grep). A tool seaching through all files, but manually excluding gitignore seems odd in principle, but might be common in IDEs indeed. Good point. [20:45:15] I suppose worth adding a comment for to the file, given it currently gives the impression it is necessary for git, which it isn't. [21:57:10] aka the analog to deployment.eqiad.wmnet, except for beta? [21:58:17] cscott: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2018-August/090466.html (deployment-deploy01) [21:58:38] thx. i'm only a day behind! [21:58:49] :) not bad! [21:59:32] presumably we should update references to deployment-tin in https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Parsoid#Deploying_changes to deployment-deploy01 [21:59:43] presumably [21:59:51] :P [22:00:24] still under deployment-prep, though? aka, `ssh deployment-deploy01.deployment-prep.eqiad.wmflabs` right? (the email only mentions the shortname) [22:03:12] yup [22:03:29] yo dawg, we heard you like deploying, so we put some deployment in your deployment while you deploy [22:05:01] hey! it matches production :) [22:05:33] how do i find out which hostnames are in the scap target for beta? [22:05:55] for mediawiki or parsoid? [22:06:08] for mediawiki it's /etc/dsh/groups/mediawiki-installation [22:06:12] we have https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Parsoid#Misc_stuff and some references to /etc/dsh/group/parsoid, but the dsh group doesn't seem to exist on beta [22:06:17] for parsoid, sorry. [22:06:19] (from memory, might be slightly different) [22:06:22] oh [22:06:59] in ./scap/betacluster in that repo [22:07:07] found from looking at scap/scap.cfg [22:07:14] dsh_targets: [22:07:55] ah, you mean /srv/deployment/parsoid/deploy/scap/betacluster [22:07:56] thx [22:08:00] yep [22:31:35] This channel has been hacked by Australia's #1 hacker Simon 'eVestigator' Smith https://evestigatorsucks.com/ [22:31:38] With our IRC ad service you can reach a global audience of entrepreneurs and fentanyl addicts with extraordinary engagement rates! https://williampitcock.com/ [22:31:42] I thought you guys might be interested in this blog by freenode staff member Bryan 'kloeri' Ostergaard https://bryanostergaard.com/ [22:31:45] Read what IRC investigative journalists have uncovered on the freenode pedophilia scandal https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Freenodegate [22:31:48] A fascinating blog by freenode staff member Matthew 'mst' Trout https://MattSTrout.com/ [22:33:52] This channel has been hacked by Australia's #1 hacker Simon 'eVestigator' Smith https://evestigatorsucks.com/ [22:33:56] With our IRC ad service you can reach a global audience of entrepreneurs and fentanyl addicts with extraordinary engagement rates! https://williampitcock.com/ [22:33:59] I thought you guys might be interested in this blog by freenode staff member Bryan 'kloeri' Ostergaard https://bryanostergaard.com/ [22:34:03] Read what IRC investigative journalists have uncovered on the freenode pedophilia scandal https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Freenodegate [22:34:06] A fascinating blog by freenode staff member Matthew 'mst' Trout https://MattSTrout.com/ [22:36:08] 10Release-Engineering-Team (Kanban), 10Release, 10Train Deployments: 1.32.0-wmf.18 deployment blockers - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T191064 (10greg) a:03thcipriani [22:40:05] This channel has been hacked by Australia's #1 hacker Simon 'eVestigator' Smith https://evestigatorsucks.com/ [22:40:08] With our IRC ad service you can reach a global audience of entrepreneurs and fentanyl addicts with extraordinary engagement rates! https://williampitcock.com/ [22:40:12] I thought you guys might be interested in this blog by freenode staff member Bryan 'kloeri' Ostergaard https://bryanostergaard.com/ [22:40:15] Read what IRC investigative journalists have uncovered on the freenode pedophilia scandal https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Freenodegate [22:40:18] A fascinating blog by freenode staff member Matthew 'mst' Trout https://MattSTrout.com/ [22:49:09] This channel has been hacked by Australia's #1 hacker Simon 'eVestigator' Smith https://evestigatorsucks.com/ [22:49:13] With our IRC ad service you can reach a global audience of entrepreneurs and fentanyl addicts with extraordinary engagement rates! https://williampitcock.com/ [22:49:16] I thought you guys might be interested in this blog by freenode staff member Bryan 'kloeri' Ostergaard https://bryanostergaard.com/ [22:49:20] Read what IRC investigative journalists have uncovered on the freenode pedophilia scandal https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Freenodegate [22:49:23] A fascinating blog by freenode staff member Matthew 'mst' Trout https://MattSTrout.com/ [23:01:23] greg-g: please /invite Sigyn
