[21:26:52] o/ Nettrom [21:26:56] Just saw your message. [21:27:02] o/ halfak [21:27:30] I think we should stop seeking interaction with WikiProjects. [21:27:43] We've learned some things & done due diligence. [21:27:56] The research group meeting will be cut in half tomorrow. [21:28:05] Because of a staff thing. I'll get the invite updated. [21:29:18] I was thinking the same thing on the WikiProjects, focusing on building technology rather than spending more time trying to initiate contact seems good priority [21:30:12] btw, I got some good feedback from User:Walkerma on the project, he’s very interested (not too surprising given his WP 1.0 project experience) [21:32:35] :) Great. How close are you to having a model that you'd like to deploy and start letting people play with? [21:33:27] relatedly, I've been working with hall1467 on building up our cross-wiki view tracking capacity. It's a PITA, but we're close to having some solid code we could run on a CRON job to provide signal for your model. [21:37:36] halfak: Actually just about to push code for the view tracking :) [21:37:46] ooh, that’s a good question… I think we should sit down and discuss how to go about deploying a model [21:38:31] cool to hear you and hall1467 are working on cross-wiki views, I was just thinking about that today with regards to User:Walkerma’s comments, since the WP 1.0 work is looking for a more global view on importance [21:39:48] :) Good to have some overlap. [21:40:59] yeah, if we want to move up towards a wider measure of importance, that kind of data would be helpful [21:45:41] We'll likely have some stuff for the next research group meeting. [21:45:57] It's hard work getting page views by page ID >:( [21:48:52] yeah, it’s unfortunate how there isn’t consistent usage of page ID as a unique identifier in some of these systems [21:49:11] I was looking at the data in Hive, and it’s like “page ID might not be set” [21:49:24] and I’m like “but why not?" [21:51:08] I was very happy when I discovered that I could just export page IDs and views from Hadoop, so I didn’t have to worry about UTF-8 issues when importing data back into MySQL [21:53:20] Yeah. Seems like the pageviews from apps don't have page-ids [23:49:01] Nettrom, halfak: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T92875 [23:50:17] hmm, sorry that isn't very informative [23:50:52] but ya, an app can request multiple pages at once [23:52:50] ah, I wasn’t aware that the apps requested pages that way, helps me understand why things are the way they are [23:52:56] thanks!
