Thanks J-Mo [18:50:35] questions for Lucie? [18:50:53] Just to check, the BabelBox analysis was only users who had it on their WikiData profile? [18:51:07] J-Mo1, ^ [18:51:08] It might be interesting to check on linked Wikipedia user pages [18:51:12] got it computermacgyver [18:51:23] (or to look at the language editions that users edit) [18:51:50] ---Great work and many thanks to the Lucie for sharing it [18:55:47] Thanks! [18:58:21] Second talk is beginning now [18:58:54] Neil C. Thompson presenting on "Science is Shaped by Wikipedia: Evidence from a Randomized Control Trial" [19:00:45] link to the manuscript: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3039505 [19:02:31] for anyone who just arrived: if you have questions, let me know and I'll relay them to the speakers [19:12:38] Psshaw @ all of enwiki history being "big" ;) [19:14:57] driving event can be external [19:15:36] yes! [19:24:25] talk is finishing up. any questions for Neil? [19:28:09] last call for questions for Neil and Lucie [19:28:16] @J-Mo1: I have a question. Could they trace specific keywords in the treatment group articles into the scientific articles published after the publication? [19:28:29] got it Giovanni_Ciampag [19:28:36] after the publicatio on wikipedia I mean :) [19:28:41] @J-Mo1: thanks! [19:28:55] after the experiment that is :) [19:29:21] A bit on the side, but… It is often difficult to write about bleeding edge research, as it often ends in a debate over original research. Users often say we should not write about original research, really we should not do original research _on_ wikipedia. Any speculaation how to avoid that? [19:29:52] One further thing the researchers could look at is the citations of scientific articles referenced in Wikipedia. It might be that sci articles they cite in their treatment articles also got a bump in citations [19:33:09] thanks for the interesting talks! [19:33:13] \o/ [19:33:45] thanks everyone, interesting work and great presentations! [19:33:52] thanks everyone for joining [19:33:57] Thank you [19:42:11] thanks J-Mo1 for hosting [19:42:17] * DarTar goes to grab lunch [19:54:00] frimelle_, forgot to say "hi" and thanks for presenting :) [19:54:14] Good to see you in a research showcase. I hope to see you presenting new stuff soon :) [20:12:19] halfak Sorry connection interrupted (again) -- hi and thanks for the invitation. It was really great! Working on the new stuff ;)
