[16:02:01] team, I'll be 5 mins late, sorry. [16:57:46] isaacj, you mentioned something about wikidata transclutions on wikipedia pages. Do you one which are the most usual templates used for this? or pointer to start researching about that? [17:00:26] yeah, this is what i'm working on right now. just getting started really so don't have a great dataset to share with you yet, but here's the meta page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:External_Reuse_of_Wikimedia_Content/Wikidata_Transclusion . i'll be working to fill this subpage out with a bunch of different examples, focusing mainly on highly-used templates: [17:00:26] https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:External_Reuse_of_Wikimedia_Content/Wikidata_Transclusion/Examples [17:01:19] gonna vary by language unfortunately becuase templates are language-specific, but here's where i'm starting with + going into random pages and looking at what wikidata is transcluded (easily seen in the page information panel) and figuring out why: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Templates_using_data_from_Wikidata [17:01:33] dsaez: ^^ [17:02:28] got you. [17:02:39] if you have more specific questions, i might be able to help too. currently the most used templates seem to be authority control: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Authority_control#Wikidata [17:03:09] coordinates (though usually the wikidata coordinates are overwritten in english wikipedia): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Coord [17:03:32] heavily used in various areas: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cite_Q [17:04:20] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_person/Wikidata [17:05:33] isaacj, I have done somework on template translation: https://github.com/digitalTranshumant/templatesAlignment ...is far from complete, but might cover the most of the popular templates. [17:05:37] and then a bunch of the citation templates use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module:Citation/CS1 which will pull things like the sitelink for DOI from wikidata [17:06:52] yeah, i think the challenge is less about aligning teh template parameters and more figuring out how the template uses wikidata (if it even does) in other languages + a lot of languages that aren't english have been much more experimental with wikidata templates so i think they have a bunch that don't exist in english yet [17:07:35] got it. [17:08:16] template:coord is this classic case where it's used by a ton of articles but even though the wikidata transclusion table (wbc_entity_usage) will track that the article is using the P625 (coordinates) property, the article very very rarely (in english anyhow) actually uses the coordinates from wikidata [17:08:32] so no way to really verify that easily without doing a bunch of manual checking etc. [18:43:16] isaacj I'm surprised that this page is not marked as Biography https://wikipedia-topic.wmcloud.org/api/v1/topic?lang=es&title=Evo_Morales [18:44:46] yeah, it seems to come in at 0.17 (https://wikipedia-topic.wmcloud.org/api/v1/topic?lang=es&title=Evo_Morales&threshold=0.15). my guess is the page has sooooo many links that a model with an architecture as simple as taking an average of the embeddings occasionally fails with something like this [18:45:40] why it's good to combine model outputs :) https://wiki-topic.toolforge.org/api/v1/wikidata/topic?qid=Q42410 [19:15:35] dsaez: do you want to discuss the Communication team's research question here? [19:15:59] maybe we can handle it via chat here, or in a video call? (I've been unsuccessful to book something on our calendars for the past days.;) [19:18:02] hey leila. It is 9:15PM here, maybe tomorrow? [19:19:29] dsaez: the challenge is that tomorrow the earliest common time will be 8:30pm your time. let's do it async over email. I'll send you my thoughts now and let's do a few back-and-forths that way and conclude in the next 24 hours? [19:19:35] I can let Sam know that we need a day to finalize. [19:19:51] (I personally don't think if we sit on it for long our views change.;) [19:20:23] ok, let's do that. [19:20:33] dsaez: great. thanks.
