[05:35:48] moin [05:37:25] meow [15:09:07] heya :) [15:09:21] wow it's empty here today... [15:10:39] Hi, Lydia_WMDE :) [15:10:49] hey jem- :) [15:10:51] how are you? [15:11:01] Fine :) And you? [15:11:25] pretty good - just got back from a fleamarket on the other side of the city [15:12:27] Good :) [15:15:52] * aude waves :) [15:17:02] [15:17:36] hey Amgine and aude :) [15:18:04] [15:18:09] maybe. [15:29:17] another meeting related to wikidata soon ? [15:30:04] DarkoNeko: the next office hours are on 29th and 30th but you're welcome to ask questions outside of them of course as well [15:30:08] anything specific? [15:30:39] no, I meant for the hotel arrangement :) [15:30:47] wondered if it was related to that [15:30:52] ah [15:30:53] hehe [15:31:03] I'm still out of questions unfortunatly :) [15:31:08] :D [15:31:28] once much mor epeople know about wikidata, I will receive and transmit more, but for now it's calm [15:31:37] :) [15:31:53] that's very much apprechiated [15:40:33] well, quite litterally, it is my pleasure [15:41:15] after all, wikidata's phase 1 will realise part of what I wished for the "what do you want wikipedia to be in 5 years" [15:41:37] my proposal was about finally shooing the interwikis and categories off the articles [15:42:11] there's at least the IW part, with any luck, a part of the category system might be appliable too (well, there probably be more local variant issues) [15:42:34] :) [15:51:42] My vision for wikidata back in 2004 was an editable spreadsheet with full statistical analysis available. Well, actually, I sorta wish that now, too. [15:56:04] Lydia_WMDE: which would be better: Hotel Kantstrasse Berlin, or Hotel President (An der Urania 16-18)? I can't figure out how close either is to the subway. [15:56:55] Amgine: i don't know either of them tbh :/ [15:57:02] google maps should show the distance though? [15:57:14] if you ask it for directions [15:57:21] The second is physically closer. [15:57:27] ok [15:58:24] [15:58:38] haha [15:58:41] that'd be awesome [16:03:55] Lydia_WMDE: where is the hackathon going to be? [16:04:30] * aude sees no venue yet on http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Berlin_Hackathon_2012 [16:04:46] aude: where re:publica was very likely [16:04:54] yeah because it's not 100% certain yet [16:04:59] Lydia_WMDE: and where was that? [16:05:03] * aude couldn't go :( [16:05:13] on the other side of the parc in front of our window [16:05:27] What? No Aude? [16:06:07] Amgine: i missed republica [16:06:18] * aude didn't have a ticket [16:06:33] Ah, but you'll be at the hackathon? [16:07:04] Lydia_WMDE: the location sounds good [16:07:09] Amgine: i will be there [16:07:18] Good. [16:08:36] Amgine: i'm getting the mobile (wikipedia) app stuff setup to experiment with and hope to try the wiktionary app soon too [16:09:03] The wiktionary app is very simple to install. [16:10:31] Point your android device at http://integration.mediawiki.org/WiktionaryMobile/nightly/Wiktionary_latest.apk [16:11:42] Less ugly/long url: http://ur1.ca/8zpdi [16:12:38] nice [16:12:50] * aude is doing iOS stuff first, though [16:14:03] oh reeeeaaaallllllyyyyy.... [16:16:54] Amgine: what's a good android device that's not crazy expensive? [16:18:12] it'll be good, of course, to see some of the mobile app data stuff adapted to the mediawiki content handler and wikidata :) [16:26:48] Hello. [16:27:06] I'm trying to understand what types of data can be useful for Wikidata. [16:29:41] Hello, Generous [16:29:46] For example, in the Russian Wikipedia for tens of thousands of articles on rivers, canals, lakes, we use data from the Database. This Database contains more than 140,000 items, its data in the public domain. [16:31:18] In our articles we add to this information, additional data. Similarly, a database on the hydrosphere in many countries around the world. [16:32:19] Generous: yes i think such data is useful for wikidata [16:32:41] If this type of data is interesting Wikidata, you can try to start the cooperation. I can show examples of the use. [16:33:45] Generous: I would say that every kind of data that can be shared between projects is useful just for that reason [16:33:47] Generous: though we are first working on interwiki language links [16:34:17] later in the summer or fall, we hope to be getting into infobox stuff and [16:34:37] then the actual adding data to wikidata, that's up to the community to do :) [16:36:32] What is the interwiki language links? Can you tell me about it in detail? [16:37:34] I think it is something more than the usual interwiki? [16:39:15] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Interlanguage_links [16:54:46] I have experience of editing Wikipedia for over 4 years in Wikipedia, I know what interwiki. I thought it was something special, directly related to Wikidata. Interwiki there are more than 10 years, what is the current work on them? [16:55:41] Generous: instead of bots maintaining them, we have one central data store for them [16:56:29] Aude: tbh, I don't know what a good, inexpensive android device might be. [16:57:01] <3 Nexus S, but it's the only Android device I've ever used too. [16:57:31] Amgine: i'll have to look around
