[16:02:31] Morning nkomura [16:02:43] Did you poke Bill about my July payment yet? [16:02:44] hey roan [16:02:54] not yet [16:03:04] (Sorry to be obnoxious like this but taxes are due Sept 13th and I'll have like 100 euros left after that) [16:03:05] i was poking him for something else [16:03:16] feel free to email him directly [16:03:27] *RoanKattouw looks up Bill's last name [16:03:41] bgong at wikimedia dot org [16:03:52] Ah thanks [16:04:18] yw sorry for not following up myself [16:04:36] how was the first day back to school? [16:05:24] It was one introductory class about functional programming, not terribly interesting just yet, but it's kinda getting hard to adjust after this crazy summer [16:05:48] Especially considering I was walking around in 29 C weather just 72 hrs ago [16:16:41] OK I sent Bill an e-mail; I'll also send my invoice for August later today [16:17:08] cool [16:17:39] i have a template to roll-up beta status which i would like you to get started working on [16:17:48] will send you via email later today [17:04:40] werdna: so after talking with people at wikimania I found out they want to do usability skin preferences a certain way. They want a skin option that's called "site default", and if they have that, whatever is randomly set as the site default will be used, sort of a "I'm feeling lucky" skin =) [17:05:39] Randomly set? [17:29:46] oh no, not randomly set =) [17:31:09] the idea is, let's say we keep working on a usability skin and you want to have whatever latest and greatest thing we come up with...you can set that preference to 'site default' and then you'll have whatever it is when it comes out. If, on the other hand, you like what you have now, or like some version of whatever we have later, you can set that too [17:32:16] I get the idea, just not sure the current implementation needs tweaking. [17:32:48] Given the preferences rewrite, if the site default changed right now, everyone who hasn't specifically chosen Monobook would have their skin changed. [17:33:05] As far as I'm aware. [17:36:48] Aye that's my understanding [17:37:06] And werdna is either at the airport or on a plane AFAIK [17:38:15] Though, the way prefs are stored ... I'm not sure if any change to any of the preferences counts as "selecting" Monobook. [17:41:45] TrevorParscal: You changed a bunch of JS and CSS lately without upping style versions, you'll want to do that or people have to manually purge cache to get the new behavior [17:42:21] hmm [17:42:29] yeah, i should have incrimented those [17:46:45] RoanKattouw: what are you working on? [17:47:03] Nothing at the moment [17:47:22] I'll be working on doing the namespace selection and title suggestions in the link dialog later [17:47:33] ok [17:47:37] Kinda need a commit of Andrew's for that, and he's in a cab now [17:47:57] well, I'm hoping to clean up the dialog stuff a bit more but I wanted to work together with you on it [17:48:10] I'm sure you see what I did with moving them into their own module [17:58:05] Yeah I saw it, didn't have a detailed look though [17:59:06] TrevorParscal and RoanKattouw, i was pointed to this message regarding the loss of shortcuts [17:59:08] http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Village_pump#I_don.27t_like_the_new_editor [17:59:18] i thought we didn't take away any shortcuts [17:59:22] will you clarify? [17:59:43] Hm the #REDIRECT [[+]] shortcut should still be there, lemme check [18:00:36] i think she means keystrokes [18:00:37] Still there and working for me on enwp [18:01:08] *RoanKattouw wonders why that comment is on strategywii ^^ [18:01:26] strategywiki even; if only we had a strategy Wii :D [18:01:41] seriously [18:02:24] hmm [18:02:29] what is going on? [18:02:35] what is this person complaining about? [18:04:04] The Sony PlayStation 3 web browser doesn't render Vector properly, so - I've been lobbying to get one for "testing purposes" [18:04:22] Not sure, I commented just now [18:04:28] :) [18:04:42] thanks RoanKattouw [18:23:57] Gah [18:24:24] Turns out I have a claim on Canadian citizenship, but will loose my NL citizenship in that case *sigh* [18:25:49] *lose [18:25:58] ha ha [18:26:15] Even my mother won't retain her NL citizenship in that case, but my aunt will [18:26:20] loosening your citenzenship sounds fun [18:26:22] Crazy laws [18:29:30] RoanKattouw: btw - you can pass an anon func like: function() { ... } into setTimeout [18:29:34] it doesnt have to be a string [18:29:44] Ah didn't know that [18:30:16] http://www.themoreyouknow.com/ [18:30:35] :) [18:30:53] lol [18:30:58] http://bestweekever.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/more_you_know1.jpg [18:31:14] they used to run these little PSAs on tv when I was a kid [18:31:19] and it ended with that image [18:31:25] classic [18:33:29] RoanKattouw: check out how I handled the HTML in JS in jquery.wikiEditor.dialogs.js [18:33:43] Is that in the latest rev? [18:33:46] it minifies nicely too, the tabs become spaces [18:33:47] yes [18:34:10] Oh is that allowed [18:34:18] I didn't know that [18:34:34] ha ha ha [18:34:43] I just figured that out the other day actually [18:34:48] it works nicely [18:44:06] RoanKattouw: update code plz :) [18:46:02] heh [18:46:12] *RoanKattouw is watching Groundhog Day, not getting any coding done just yet [18:47:10] Bill Murry == my hero! [23:03:57] I think the lack of a REDIRECT button is annoying too, FWIW. [23:04:14] It's not in MW core, but en.wiki and a lot of major wikis add one. [23:04:22] The new edit toolbar doesn't have one, though. [23:04:56] *Fflapjac always thought it was core, surprised by that [23:05:06] Don't believe so.
