[11:24:21] [telegram] Forwarded from amire80: Does the English Wikipedia really have 547,911 templates?! [11:24:22] [telegram] Here's how I found the number: https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/46664 [11:24:23] [telegram] I might be wrong, please check me :) [11:24:24] [telegram] I imagined that the actual number is maybe one tenth of that. [11:24:43] [telegram] wouldn't surprise me [11:34:32] enwiki did you know nominations are on the template space for some reason so that might inflate the number [11:34:35] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Fresh_Kill for example [11:35:46] [telegram] SRSLY, if I had to give a ballpark number, I'd say "50,000". (re @jhsoby: wouldn't surprise me) [11:36:57] [telegram] ZOMFG. There are 48975 of these. I'm literally banging my head on the desk. (re @wmtelegram_bot: [irc] enwiki did you know nominations are on the template space for some reason so that might inflate the number) [11:40:35] [telegram] Knowing how many templates wo have at nowiki – more than 1,000 infobox templates alone, I'm not surprised at all that enwiki has that many (re @amire80: SRSLY, if I had to give a ballpark number, I'd say "50,000".) [11:41:28] [telegram] remember also all the /doc subpages [11:45:46] [telegram] 31195 with page_title like '%/doc' (re @jhsoby: remember also all the /doc subpages) [11:46:25] and /sandbox subpages [11:46:52] [telegram] At least the /doc pages are actually useful, although there's probably a better way to organize them. [11:46:58] [telegram] 7502, not so much. (re @wmtelegram_bot: [irc] and /sandbox subpages) [12:08:40] [telegram] Hi! How can I figure if an API request is fast or slow to estimate how many queries I can make. I saw in the docs that for slow queries the limit is 500 and for fast queries it is 2000. [12:14:14] [telegram] I think that is managed by the maxlag parameter. Usually you set this to 5 for long running queries. [12:16:11] [telegram] I'm doing a`action=query` and prop=info query, but I don't know if that is considered fast or slow [12:17:09] [telegram] for reading I would not be bothered too much [12:17:47] [telegram] for writes to the database the maxlag can be important [12:18:15] [telegram] Nice, thanks for the help, @edoderoo :)
