[20:32:30] Hello there! I would like to ask you something. I've got a MediaWiki set up with the latest version. Over the last couple of days it has ceased to generate thumbnails and it says "Error creating miniature (thumbnail): the thumbnail could not be saved" (in Spanish) [20:32:55] I have tried chmod'ing the directories and increasing the shell memory to no results [20:33:07] and it does have free space too [20:44:16] Hey DiegoGrez (Are you wikinews DiegoGrez? If so, /me waves) [20:44:29] Did you make sure to chmod all the subdirectories too? [20:44:49] hey bawolff! long time no see. Yes, it's me [20:44:55] Yes, I did [20:45:29] Sometimes if you enable the mediawiki debug log file ( $wgDebugLogFile ) it might give you more detailed errors about uploading [20:45:39] s/uploading/thumbnailing [20:47:54] Another thing that sometimes happens (but is more rare) is things like SELinux can interfere with saving files if setup incorrectly [20:49:58] I will try and do that [20:50:11] Also be sure that $wgTmpDirectory (or if unset, the system temp directory) is writable by mediawiki [20:50:22] It's weird, though. It's been doing just fine for nearly six years and it's started to happen with new files it seems [20:51:19] that seems to have worked [20:51:26] the temporary directory was not there [20:51:30] * DiegoGrez trouts himself [20:51:42] it's now generating thumbnails [20:51:45] woo@ [20:51:50] woo! [20:51:54] typing is hard [20:52:19] heh [20:52:24] hope you're doing great bawolff [20:52:46] it's been a long time. was saddened to learn that both Pi zero and Brian had died some time ago [20:52:46] Thanks. Hope you are too [20:53:03] yeah, me too [20:53:33] Wikinews seems like a wasteland at this point [20:55:12] looks like it. but it never really took off [20:55:43] I used to pop in #wikinews every now and then and there was no activity at all [20:55:55] true [20:56:01] its been dying a slow death for a long time
