[00:53:18] [1/2] this is the original wiki [00:53:18] [2/2] https://mlaatrabbot.miraheze.org [00:53:40] it's very laggy personally [00:54:51] dang [00:55:04] I can barely access it but the artistry is impressive [00:58:19] indeed [01:46:49] okay i love refreshed SOO much [01:58:58] I'm still learning, and Bart and I've been talking about my situation in DMs. I'm thinking of nuking the CSS file and start fresh, but I'll be using variables to make color swapping easier. I'm the sole maintainer of the wiki's look, so you gotta make ends meet. [02:00:59] [1/2] test [02:00:59] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1429288187087425669/image.png?ex=68f597da&is=68f4465a&hm=90654a94baf2e453395e274702dfcc0f79234df244cb43791def904f05b470be& [02:02:58] That looks a lot better (and certainly a lot faster, loading times-wise) than the code spaghetti I have now, honestly. [02:26:07] hum. [02:26:27] I've been considering setting it for Equestripedia, I'm getting a little tired of Timeless. [02:26:33] At least to make it usable. [02:27:25] And customizable. Don't be me and skeuomorph the entire wiki. Bad idea on my part. [02:32:46] i'm sure it's possible to make it like how oasis looked in 2014 (like this https://discord.com/channels/407504499280707585/615786602454581249/1429097971378688031) [02:37:34] The CSS page itself is not terribly long. I've seen other wikis with 2000+ lines of CSS in MediaWiki:Common.css but they perform well. I suspect that you used some CSS rules which are computationally expensive. For example, `filter: blur` is a known offender and there might be more. [02:38:15] stares at the utg wiki [02:38:20] ah yes the extend loading time filter [02:38:33] filter: extend-loading-time-nooow [02:39:25] That can be why. I have the full CSS in my Notepad++ window after nuking the live version on the wiki's CSS file. I'll take out the ``filter: blur`` CSS ahead of time. [02:40:17] anyways time to not deactivate my computer so i don't lose all my progress [02:41:11] That would be horrible. [02:41:53] i'm gonna store all of it in refreshed.css tmrw [02:43:03] nighty night [02:43:19] Goodnight! I'm currently taking out the blur filter CSS over in Notepad++, since I think that's main culprit onto why loading is so bad. [02:43:41] does your css use blur though [02:43:51] i didn't see any parts of it with blur [02:44:01] It did with some parts. [02:44:07] how many [02:46:23] [1/2] Quite a lot. [02:46:23] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1429299613088743536/image.png?ex=68f5a27e&is=68f450fe&hm=9a47510181716cf514dce74b35cf72a199603479e5a910ed387e45cadaca903e& [02:50:05] oh wow [02:50:23] I'm removing all that filter blur entirely. [02:59:12] [1/2] And cleared it. [02:59:13] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1429302840505012304/image.png?ex=68f5a580&is=68f45400&hm=df392718628bee29f23c6e85748fa488abb50119b1ba2e3acbce8c98fc2e115e& [07:51:28] <90gq29> [1/2] 😢 [07:51:28] <90gq29> [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1429376389240586250/3afdvsp.mp4?ex=68f5e9ff&is=68f4987f&hm=8a0c745a01cb767bd46edd80ca2db152e1a8fe79334cd6242b5b37c11ee693b2& [07:51:32] <90gq29> this is so sad [10:38:34] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1179246854177833030/1266245830323732532/caption.gif [10:43:10] Me watching google omit my page after the fandom wiki copies it 1:1 😢 [10:44:15] Corporations suck [10:45:33] <90gq29, replying to bitbyte10> huh [10:45:41] <90gq29> someone is copying your wiki 1:1 on fandom? [10:46:50] Not the entire wiki, just a single page [10:47:21] And my wiki (the Skibidi Toilet wiki) is a fork, and thus competing with Fandom [10:52:56] probably competing with the other skibidi toilet wikis too [10:53:48] this is why you time travel to make skibidi toilet obscure and to start the wiki on miraheze first [10:55:01] Truly [10:55:04] a plan [10:57:15] https://tenor.com/view/rivulet-cocainer-rain-world-slugcat-gif-136916313215724756 [11:54:25] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/874125680420470814/1413752502859595807/evil.gif [13:03:15] surely that violates the licensing? [13:04:39] Depends [13:35:12] They didn't attribute so pretty sure it does [13:36:11] As far as I know Fandom Support is pretty cooperative regarding this, but I'd rather not escalate it to that degree and sort the issue out with local admins of that wiki. [13:36:24] I'm more peeved about how Google is so stupid [13:40:41] Then yes [13:49:15] <90gq29, replying to bitbyte10> could change the copyright policy on your wiki so that theyre not allowed to copy it even with attribution [13:49:38] <90gq29> if they just copy paste pages and push you out of the search results [13:54:32] How do I change it again? [13:59:05] NAL, but you don't just change it anymore. [13:59:12] It's not your work to relicense. [13:59:43] <90gq29> yeah but it would protect him from the same thing happening [13:59:46] Meh no point dabbling into this copyright stuff [13:59:47] <90gq29> to future articles, no? [14:00:09] Unless like it becomes a huge issue [14:00:44] Since the Fandom admins are cooperative [15:50:33] yes [15:50:51] assuming the Skibidi Toilet Wiki on Miraheze is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 [15:51:00] and that the one on Fandom is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 [15:51:07] regardless if they attributed [15:53:13] because you can fork and upgrade your wiki's license from CC BY-SA 3.0 to CC BY-SA 4.0, but not the other way around [15:53:59] General rule to keep in mind is that Fandom wikis are generally licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 (and former Gamepedia wikis are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0) while generally, a lot of Miraheze wikis are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, though some wikis may have had their licensing changed to something else early on [15:55:44] When a Fandom community forks to wiki.gg or Miraheze, their licenses are upgraded from CC BY-SA 3.0 to CC BY-SA 4.0, and this works out fine legally. However, you can't license CC BY-SA 4.0 content back to CC BY-SA 3.0 [15:59:02] so technically, all those people on Fandom copying from Wikipedia (licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0) are technically committing copyvios 🤭 [16:00:00] so @bitbyte10, if someone copied some stuff from the Miraheze wiki to the Fandom wiki, it looks like you have a case. You can report it to the Fandom admins and tell them to delete the copied page, if it started as one. If not, then tell them to delete the revisions containing the content copied from Miraheze [16:00:04] I can do it for u if u want [16:01:11] Yeah we just told them to remove the content they copied and they complied, for now... [16:01:52] If they ever decide to stop cooperating we can always leech on their content making sure to attribute [18:15:25] yay!! im gonna use this to go defend my works from the scp slop youtubers who would be too stupid to add a disclamer
