[03:00:28] I think I saw a flurryling today [05:22:19] why do so many RC requests have to come from private wikis 😔 [07:15:35] [1/3] got an email from MEGA warning that rkn is probably blocking them [07:15:36] [2/3] so [07:15:36] [3/3] sigh [09:56:50] because you have to SUFFER [15:07:58] [1/2] LET'S-A GO! [15:07:58] [2/2] https://youtu.be/GuCejewteF8 [16:13:56] sequels always have a tendency to be bad lets pray 🙏 [17:47:46] [[Didlo [17:47:51] [[Didlo]] [17:47:51] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Didlo [17:47:54] [22:41:21] Chat what states are in the East Coast US Tri State area off your head if you know [22:41:57] I need to slam someone in an argument [22:53:27] Only east coast state I can think of is California maybe? I'm bad at geography so that may be the wrong side of the country [22:55:32] Isn't california west? [22:55:38] If california is the one I'm thinking of. [22:55:44] San andreas fault place? [22:58:25] New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut [23:10:03] California is on the west coast yeah, the east coast has New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, North/South Carolina, Georgia and ig Florida [23:10:42] Though I really mean the north [23:24:15] Also Maine, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Maryland. And the District of Columbia which is not a state [23:24:51] I can label a blank map of the US from memory [23:26:23] I though I put Maryland [23:26:31] The rest I only put actual coast [23:27:03] [1/2] i have never seen someone so wrong [23:27:03] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1438309146322669719/image.png?ex=69166946&is=691517c6&hm=fb95553e9a2c6f0da5df0abc28e1b87a35381a0f26f1a65679ce8a56b6f03a2b& [23:36:05] If we had as much money as Fandom we might have better reliability. I am pleased with what our volunteers have been able to pull off without being paid. And that’s not empty praise; I am doing a much smaller version of what they’re doing and I’m baffled by how much work it’s turning into. [23:36:50] Not a wiki farm but a MediaWiki deployment across multiple servers [23:37:59] honestly our problems are starting to be more of the "we can't pay someone to beat the servers into staying up" kind [23:38:20] that or figuring out how to medicate everyone's ADHD [23:47:13] tbh, there are some objective drawbacks to the miraheze service relative to fandom, and they more or less source back to volunteer time and motivation which has always been an up and down issue on the platform [23:48:04] from community requests because like 1 steward is particularly 'alive' at a time to trying to kick a tech out of bed because something died in an off hour and we can't pay for the kind of resources and redundancy fandom can, that's a fact of life for projects like this [23:48:07] [1/2] There's always work that is important but not fun, and in a volunteer-run project this type of work tends to get neglected because no one wants to do them. [23:48:07] [2/2] Though for our case I think we just need a performance/db reliability enthusiast in the tech team. [23:48:42] at this point I do think the time is ripe for 1 or 2 full on steward candidates who have a shot at being especially active at least for a time tho [23:48:58] won't help a lot with the tech stuff but may assist with community end stalling [23:49:27] petra would be a fair candidate to go high imo [23:52:12] ooooooo you wanna let me roam free on your queuesssssssssss [23:53:00] sure, hop aboard [23:55:01] I’m waiting until I have more experience before running for steward, if I ever do so. First I would need to be something like a global admin [23:55:54] smells like you wanna watch #cvt-feed [23:58:37] [1/2] I guess I should try becoming Wiki Mechanic, which could've happened months ago but never did because I don't like asking for things. [23:58:37] [2/2] There was a pretty bad backlog for SR/RC back then due to NA being the only person processing them, but Pix helped reduce the wait time significantly.
