[00:21:16] [1/2] anyone kind enough to send the translatewiki.net link for the global notice? [00:21:17] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1473474415277637703/image.png?ex=6996577c&is=699505fc&hm=597e21f1883746c04da27cecff6def793d67b97daeb387df0ef2f9283a877202& [00:24:32] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Translate?group=Centralnotice-tgroup-Fundraiser2026_1 [00:24:32] its not on translatewiki, its on metawiki [00:24:57] oh [00:28:59] was going to originally translate it to the PT-BR language but i guess i need to get the translator group first [00:34:09] [1/2] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Talk:Miraheze_Volunteering_Opportunities#Restructuring_this_page [00:34:09] [2/2] Some thoughts on restructuring the Miraheze Volunteering Opportunities if anyone has something they want to add/change. [01:02:06] Do you not have it?? [01:02:44] -# i never did an application to do so cause lazy [01:04:22] [1/3] Oh, yeah. I think you're on the right track. The page itself doesn't even cover all the hats (for one, Wiki Reviewer is missing altogether). There are always pros and cons to how stuff is organized, but I wonder if it might be better suited to be structured as "entry level", maybe experienced and senior, vs Tech, Community, Company While tech is fairly self e [01:04:22] [2/3] xplanatory, the others aren't intuitively clear, imho. [01:04:23] [3/3] Maybe it might also make sense to break the "categories" out to their own pages. Like tech volunteers has it's own page with the level of detail they'd like. [01:55:12] dew it [02:25:06] I support this!! Looking at that page, it makes it seem as if no other volunteer roles are available, when (as you say) there could definitely be emphasis placed on what volunteering means in a "hatless" unofficial context and the opportunities therein [02:45:31] [1/4] Yeah I would assume the page is most needed by editors aspiring to be entry-level volunteers. Once they have a foot in the door, they will have a better idea of where to go next and no longer need the page. [02:45:31] [2/4] I think the Volunteering Opportunities page provides the most value to someone who wants to know what options are available and strive toward them. To that end perhaps every role should start with "you may be interested in pursuing this route if you are interested in X, Y, and Z", inspired by https://whatcanidoforfedora.org/. [02:45:31] [3/4] In addition to that, on the tech side, the page should help a person interact with the tech team on Phorge/Discord/GitHub to gain their trust. Once the volunteer is eligible to be mentored in the beta program, the rest goes to the tech team. [02:45:32] [4/4] I'd imagine something similar can happen on the WR/CVT side of things. Perhaps tell them how to do WR practice or revert vandalism to gain trust before going for hats. [02:57:20] In general connecting them to people in this channel to advise would be best instead of setting expectations of what to do before running for something [03:06:11] [1/2] Btw I think you can get the CSS/JS support role if you'd like. I'm not a discord admin, but you'll have my support if you do want the role. [03:06:11] [2/2] You have done more than enough CSS help in this server. Perhaps you are not familiar with JS, but I see no harm in you getting the role if you focus on CSS help and leave JS to other volunteers. [03:10:59] [1/2] I see the wiki page as a way of giving out "canned responses" to this channel as well. When a prospective volunteer asks "what should I do if I want to become X" here, we can point them to the page for some basic things that build trust in the community. [03:10:59] [2/2] The volunteering channel and the wiki page can direct people in both ways: becoming more active here after seeing the wiki page or coming here to chat with volunteers after seeing the wiki page. [03:15:50] I’d be down to grant with your +2 [03:36:18] Question: what is the Volunteering Opportunities page actually used for? I checked "What Links Here" and it doesn't seem to be linked anywhere super visible. In fact, the "Volunteering" link on the front page leads to instead [03:39:37] The above Contributing also links to this Miraheze Volunteers page, which seems outdated? šŸ¤” [03:42:17] Thank you PetraMagna and PixDeVl!! I'd be honored to accept it if I am deemed worthy by the powers that be 🫔 /gen I'm definitely more familiar with CSS than JS and would absolutely limit myself to that 😤 There's a reason the wiki I admin has almost zero custom JS šŸ˜… [03:43:31] more than happy to grant it to you, I have noticed you giving solid advice as well [03:43:58] gonna do a silly and yoink it from pix and cast a spell... [03:44:11] poof you have a blue role now [03:45:34] https://tenor.com/view/you%27re-blue-now-youre-blue-now-papyrus-undertale-blue-attack-gif-16467669908740974125 [03:50:16] :((( [03:51:18] you can have the next paintbrush victim c: [03:51:40] Yay [03:58:18] [1/2] Good point. It seems that we have multiple outdated and overlapping pages at the same time. Both have content that haven't been updated in a while. Perhaps this is the time to merge them with a rewritten version. [03:58:18] [2/2] The Contributing page seems to be more beginner friendly, but it also has advanced sections such as "Installing a new extension or skin" which is not possible to do without some back-and-forth interactions with a tech team member. [03:59:49] I have been MAGICKED. Thank you all!! I will do my best to continue doing good work!! 🫔🄳 [04:01:55] Yeah, merging/rewriting sounds like a good idea. Splitting it between Entry Level and more advanced positions as mentioned earlier sounds good to me too. [13:34:55] how have I only just realised it's a paintbrush [13:34:58] I though it was a rocket [20:45:04] Yeah so I want to volunteer
