[00:59:26] [1/2] I get a lot of these when trying to upload an image upload request on Phorge. I'm trying to send a 4gb zip. [00:59:26] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1261487116710445156/image.png?ex=669322ed&is=6691d16d&hm=c170eb3dcaa74f659e104eb5b0a622d4a8eddbdce8177e0a756715acf512a8a4& [01:00:35] I'll just use the archive.org link instead, but just thought it'd be nice to drop here in case it's not just a me issue. [01:00:59] You can post the link. File may be to large to upload directly. [01:02:22] @suzuneu question [01:03:19] is it possible to import the latest revisions of pages (and images) that haven’t been manually moved over right now and then have the xml dump with the rest of the revisions imported later when the tech team has time? [01:05:16] Yeah, just sent it onto Phorge with the link attached ty :) [01:41:22] please do not upload four gigabytes files onto phorge [01:54:14] I don't remember how importDump.php behaves when I run it with the page already in place, so I'll experiment later on my private wiki farm [01:57:10] got it. if it does work like I want to let me know! [01:57:49] Anyone else having issues with long wiki load times? [02:00:28] someone needs to add wikitext link support into phorge (so i can type [[Community portal]] and not [Community portal](https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Community_portal)) [02:00:28] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Community_portal [04:10:42] yes [04:10:49] slow loading and got a 502 for a short time [04:10:57] any way to force a preference from citizen? i got some elements in my main page that simply break off when using regular or wide [04:11:39] you can force it with css, but it's not a built in feature of citizen [04:12:13] [1/2] speaking of the new announcement about archivebot, last month, I got someone to use it to archive my personal wiki that is still on Fandom, in any case if it would be closed by Fandom and I remained gblocked [04:12:13] [2/2] thankfully it's still not closed, but just in case, it's always good to keep a backup [04:12:50] and I also do have a personal wiki here that I still use, for a similar, but rather different purpose [04:12:52] ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [04:26:00] > [13/07/2024 14:10] any way to force a preference from citizen? i got some elements in my main page that simply break off when using regular or wide [04:26:14] you can hide a preference by setting the localization string to nothing [04:56:01] <.labster> I'm guessing this is the thing turning all of our images into WebP: https://developers.cloudflare.com/images/polish/ [05:02:42] i linked it in the phorge task [05:03:12] https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org/T12317#246417 [06:42:40] As a matter, yes. There's a browser extension that allows it. It basically replaces all Fandom links with alternatives if it finds them. [06:45:41] Without a compelling reason (and not to say there isn't one there very well could be) we won't be turning that off. Webp is a performance improvement as well as SEO improvement. And afaik we can't turn off per-wiki. So that workaround you mentioned is honestly probably the best route. [06:46:15] you need to register custom domain in console as new site, request on phorge 301 redirect and transfer search console data from old instance to new [06:46:24] didn't know that affects seo [06:47:25] i'm not too bothered either way (since i'm used to keysmashing), just letting y'all know [06:47:49] wikiteam3 has built-in polish bypass and will yell at you if you don't enable it while polish is on [06:51:47] Because Google prioritizes it due to performance benefits [06:54:20] curse you google [07:05:12] Hey guys [07:05:18] I have a question. [07:05:55] Is it possible to upload a new file for this svg file? 👇 [07:06:12] https://gaulpedix.miraheze.org/wiki/File:Bullet-icon.svg [07:07:11] The "Upload a new version of this file" seems disabled... [07:41:54] We can [07:42:10] How? [07:42:24] Config rules [07:42:34] It is one account there is no option other than disable and enable on it though? [07:42:43] oh [07:44:05] Don't we have limited config rules or something? [07:44:54] 125 [07:45:07] But it would be 1 rule to turn it off [07:45:27] And then you can do a list of hostname equals x.mh.o or y.mh.o etc [07:45:58] Okay I suppose we can allow individual wikis to disable it if they provide a fair rational. But not just any wiki as it is a performance benefit. But if they have a valid reason why I see no reason not to. [07:47:02] @cosmicalpha can you see https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org/T12316 because that might need the DC [07:47:34] Although that wouldn't work isn't static where they come from? [07:48:11] We can still do it. We can just match on the path [07:48:19] static.mh.o/examplewiki/* [07:48:37] Alright works for me then with a valid reason. [07:48:56] I talked to Void he said it was a config issue and may not need DC [07:49:56] Ye but then he said he couldn't find how to change it. It seemed to be locked lower than the rest. Last comment on the task. [07:50:08] Ah right. I will look later [07:50:21] I have to go for now I'll be back in a few hours to look [07:51:50] Ok [08:15:28] So i need to ask miraheze to tranfer it then? Or im i misunderstanding? [08:20:46] [1/4] no, look [08:20:46] [2/4] in google search console there's a site transfer function, in case URL was changed [08:20:46] [3/4] adding custom domain if you already registered in console w/ miraheze domain counts as such change [08:20:46] [4/4] if you didn't registered the wiki in console before, but google indexed miraheze domain by itself, you need to register it first anyway, to claim its ownership [08:21:59] But the 301 stuff, isent miraheze managing that? [08:22:57] [1/2] yeah, 301 redirect [08:22:57] [2/2] they don't transfer anything, they just set this type of redirect, all the rest stuff you have to do by yourself in search console [08:24:03] Ah okay, thanks!! [08:49:30] Complete hypothetical, would it be possible to change a wiki’s home page to be just the wiki’s url? (Eg. dogewiki.miraheze.org would be the url of the home page instead of dogewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page) [08:50:43] I saw that managed to do it, but they have their URLs set to root instead of /wiki/ [08:53:40] mooncloud: Special:ManageWIki/core: Make the main page of this wiki use the domain root? [08:54:42] I never noticed that, I’d assume that requires a request? [08:54:49] i believe so [08:57:08] Would that affect SEO? [08:57:19] Do you think it would? Or [08:59:59] That would be really nice actually, makes the url way cleaner [09:02:04] We’re considering it over at but since we’re in a bit of an seo fight with our old fandom wiki we wanna make sure it won’t break anything haha [09:02:43] there's a bug where you can't edit the main page with that normally btw [09:03:20] https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org/T12263 [09:03:51] Thanks for reminding me of that [09:17:06] Yeah i get that [09:33:43] Hey, is the issue for SSL certificates changed? [09:34:00] issuer* [09:38:20] Nope [09:38:48] why you ask [09:56:04] my wiki seems to be loading faster today :babyyay: [11:06:32] [1/2] @Discord Administrators MediaWiki Specialists need access to #announcements. [11:06:32] [2/2] We need to use that channel for announcing MediaWiki upgrades. [11:06:42] Unless you want us to use #minor-announcements that is [11:14:29] @bluemoon0332 you picked a time? [11:15:31] I'm just saying we may need it [11:15:40] nothing set in stone yet regarding when we're upgrading [11:15:55] Ok [11:40:13] [1/12] hello!! quick question: [11:40:13] [2/12] I have this in an portable infobox, standard character infobox stuff: [11:40:14] [3/12] ``` [11:40:14] [4/12]
