[00:44:12] There are some responses that I like more than others, but none that warrants exclusion though. [01:30:51] it's so weird that page tools is supposed to be for functions directly related to the current page but they put Upload file there [02:21:14] ts so dead 🥀 [03:34:28] [1/2] on the original miraheze domain of a wiki with a custom domain, these 2 cors errors appear and they stop the js, rendering the wiki unusable [03:34:29] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1455041254210539663/image.png?ex=69534844&is=6951f6c4&hm=5f41556d62eb2b6b847188e956901c45f60b8dc7d51617c761757b6d123b599b& [03:34:32] is there any way to fix this? [06:15:27] https://discord.com/channels/407504499280707585/1455079806986354809/1455081431108816947 [06:15:56] Same question asked 3 hours apart from each other 😭 [07:45:39] Upload file is still an incredibly useful tool [07:46:05] I guess its more premise meaning would be like "Upload file so that you can use it for this page" I [08:02:16] lol [08:02:56] if I set up a redirect, will googlebot also be redirected [08:03:20] for some reason, it can't access the custom domain even though I've asked freedns to remove the googlebot restrictions on the donain [08:04:20] if a redirect is the only solution, is it possible to redirect everyone except googlebot or something like that? [08:09:56] Upload file is useful and needs to be somewhere, but it being in the "page relevant tools" section is a problem [08:10:31] because say you also want "upload multiple files" from simplebatchuploads [08:11:46] if you try to put it in the toolbox section without using non-trivial methods to edit the toolbox default links, it goes to the bottom [08:12:26] it doesn't go next to "Upload file" [08:12:46] then I start looking up modifying the toolbox [08:13:15] I get the answer that it's some deep level stuff and also read that you should only put things relevant to the page itself therr [08:13:29] then I look at upload file and i'm like, why is this there [08:13:58] and I can't remove upload file to put it with upload multiple files at the top of the sidebar or something [08:14:02] it's stuck there [08:14:22] I can make a second link, but then now I have an extra redundant link [08:30:42] `#t-upload{ display: none; }` [08:56:03] well, it's not an ideal solution but it is a solution [10:09:56] id put upload file to normal sidebar section related to wiki management, the one that would have all pages, templates, stubs, mw help etc links [10:10:09] Yes there was a brief outage, yes we are aware and no I don't know what's caused it or if we're definitely back [10:10:14] To any questions [10:23:55] Good Bye! You guys! My appeal has been declined! And I decide that I will accept my ban! [10:27:10] who is that again [10:27:17] whatever [10:57:02] [1/3] Hi, in my wiki, in: Special:ManageWiki/settings#mw-section-styling > Default Skin ($wgDefaultSkin) [10:57:02] [2/3] In the dropdown the skin "Citizen" doesn't appear although I have it activated at /Special:ManageWiki/extensions#mw-section-skins. [10:57:02] [3/3] How can I put Citizen as default? [10:57:28] try purge or wait a bit [11:02:21] I don't mean to be a pain, but my wiki just recently moved to tennistome. And I'm still getting an error when logging in. It says "No active login attempt is in progress for your sesion." [11:04:35] Thanks Legroom. [11:12:13] some troll, they can be cleaned out if they carry on [12:51:08] [1/2] Huh [12:51:08] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1455181342487740508/Screenshot_2025-12-29-17-50-38-353_com.opera.browser-edit.jpg?ex=6953cabc&is=6952793c&hm=2fd0569afb739d9d04ca83ef62b325bafe58fe2fcc1e25b1efc117c2d1665663& [12:51:47] https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org/T14665 [12:51:49] It was renamed [12:52:24] That was unexpected lol [12:52:36] I no longer hoped that they would rename it [12:52:50] is that good or bad rename [12:55:07] It's good actually [12:55:23] Finally the past is already complete [13:11:44] why would you not update the task then [13:18:50] try logging out and in miraheze meta [13:18:52] did trick 4 me [13:22:21] That seemed to do the trick. Thankyou 🙂 [13:50:12] Kinda forgot abt it [14:34:44] lmfao even wikipedia uses this solution [14:35:21] sounds like a great sign that they should change it [14:58:57] If I mass uploaded images then added copyright information soon afterwards, would that count as copyright infringement? [14:59:22] wdym? [14:59:40] infringement is infringement whether or not you have information about it [15:00:14] Uploading several images from a toy line, I make sure I add credit and stuff to every file uploaded but doing so for several images at once is tricky [15:02:03] not sure, although if you're quick with adding the credit I don't think anyone will care that much [15:37:11] No copyright holder bat an eye for that [15:42:51] you should be okay if it gets done in a timely way [15:43:15] and the general threat is a rights holder taking issue with or without that information put on [15:56:14] in the case of ccby and similar licenses the copyright information is necessary to fulfill the terms of the license so the information's still important though [16:00:27] the earlier statement applies [16:00:45] especially as the plan is to get it done [16:01:22] I left the opening for the followup which I didn't think I needed but will post now, that its another story if you just go eh I'll do it later and then it just sits indefinitely, then you can quite rightly be called on it and have a problem [16:44:24] if you upload an image to the wiki, it's technically copyright infringement [16:45:35] labeling them as "fair use" and not using them for any good reason wouldn't work either [16:47:05] but all of this is on the absolute worst case scenario of course [16:47:12] The copyright status is admittedly complicated because the photographs are under reuse with credit while the toy themselves are not. Since Wikipedia has pictures of toys under fair use I think it qualifies as a portion and not the entire product. [16:48:58] I guess it depends too [16:49:18] you also have to consider whether the photographs themselves are freely licensed too [16:49:28] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Wheels#/media/File:HOT_WHEELS_MAINLINE_2013_-_CHEVY_CAMARO.jpg [16:50:26] Yeah afaik copyright over photographs of toys is messy [16:50:32] interesting that this is a CC0 image though [16:50:41] what about the hot wheel model? 🤔 [16:52:16] [1/3] I guess it could be either two things: [16:52:16] [2/3] - maybe in the case I posted, the hot wheels model isn't "creative" enough to pass the threshold of originality/copyrightability [16:52:16] [3/3] - de minimis, which means a copyrighted product is a very small part of an otherwise freely licensable photo [18:38:57] Anyone happen to know if Cargo is compatible with PortableInfobox? [18:46:00] No reason it shouldn’t be [18:56:57] I guess I'm just a little confused about what the syntax would look like with PortableInfobox's XML-based template definitions. Do you `#cargo_declare` a table inside the infobox XML? [18:59:20] is there an issue with just `#cargo_declare`ing it outside the infobox xml? [18:59:39] never used cargo before so I have no idea what it does but I imagine that's just a parser function [19:01:41] I think perhaps I just need to wait for the enablement request to go through and experiment a little. I'm still developing my understanding of how exactly parser functions work. [19:04:17] parser functions are kinda like a template but they begin with `{{#` [19:04:59] there's some stuff to do with execution order but that comes up rarely [19:09:39] ah, okay, I get it. PixDeVl is, of course, right. I was making it too complicated in my head by imagining that I'd have to somehow define the infobox XML and `#cargo_declare` / `#cargo_store` components simultaneously, but I can just do all of the cargo stuff first. [19:35:38] We use cargo in our PIBs in Rainverse Wiki [19:35:51] [[mh:rainverse:Template:Infobox character]] [19:35:51] [20:08:23] PIB [20:14:37] Portable Infobox? [20:54:36] Ty for the example! [21:09:41] [1/2] my recent changes appears to be bugging out. I've tried clearing cache and using a different browser but it appears to keep on having this view new changes button even when there are no new changes [21:09:41] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1455306807034646630/image.png?ex=69543f95&is=6952ee15&hm=8445ce6c014d992c4a44af938ccc2ab49462e35920d0a25eb4621db693caeb10& [21:10:43] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?limit=500&days=14&enhanced=1&urlversion=2&peek=1&isAnon=false&action=render returns 0 bytes, is that normal? [21:11:03] also happens on battle cats wiki [21:12:25] also appears on osrs wiki so probably some issue on my end [21:12:57] I'm sure it usually doesn't come up with that reload button unless there are no new changes [21:43:41] i don't know what to do for my front page [23:00:28] whats your wiki about? [23:23:00] Would I be able to have Awb switched on again, as the sites moved from totaltennis to tennistome?
