[00:08:03] @pixldev https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-MarkAdmins.js?curid=73603&diff=517265&oldid=516915 uhhh [00:08:11] I think that had the opposite effect [00:58:05] its fun [00:58:25] definitely what fuels my love for wikis [00:58:33] if you couldnt tell already [00:59:03] is there patch notes [01:01:27] Sounds like it. [01:01:44] i say as i proceed to get thrown a giant block of knowledge i have to compress [01:02:36] What [01:03:06] What’s the opposite of adding AS…. [01:16:43] No non-technical one that I'm aware of. I try to maintain a list of things I know on https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/MediaWiki/1.45 though [01:17:31] @cosmicalpha I wrote a brief upgrade schedule from timings in #tech-ops on the page as well ^ [01:18:06] Thank you! [01:18:47] We will have the remaining schedule tomorrow once we see how metawiki, loginwiki, and commonswiki goes. [01:19:17] Which wikis have been hit already? [01:19:20] I presume Meta [01:19:29] meta hasnt been upgraded yet. [01:19:54] Dev Wiki, PTW, some opt in wikis, and newly created wikis are 1.45 so far. [01:20:24] I think we can safely say the 10th is the planned date though your evening might be past midnight for UTC+0, which would make it the 11th. [01:20:50] I will probably do it before midnight UTC [01:22:16] I do not plan to drag this out though as once we start upgrading in batches, modifying 2FA is effectively frozen until all wikis are upgraded due to changes upstream. So I dont want to drag it out to long. [01:22:54] Otherwise 2FA cant be enabled or disabled or reset. That is the biggest challenge of this upgrade. [01:23:03] Yeah it's going to be very tricky when someone tries to log in from non-meta wikis. [01:23:35] Logging in usually works fine, just cant modify 2FA at all. [01:23:45] I'm surprised that 2FA data is split between local and global though: sounds like something that should be in the global DB table only. [01:24:10] Modifying 2FA on a 1.45 wikis causes fatals even viewing a 1.44 wiki while logged in. [01:24:20] Oh wait I think I know what's wrong: the application on 1.44 expects the old schema but the DB table is already on 1.45? [01:24:40] No, its still on 1.44 schema because once on 1.45 it breaks 1.44. [01:25:15] I will not change 2FA schema until the upgrade is 100% complete. Very last thing. [01:27:11] The reason for the issue @posix_memalign is because recovery codes are their own module now not implicitly part of TOTP. This allows for multiple 2FA formats at once, and also somewhat prepares for 1.46 when WebAuthn is finally truly stable with passkeys support and merged into the same extension. [01:27:56] So once the scema splits it, it causes fatals just reading 1.44 wikis if logged in centrally. [01:28:34] Thats why we can't change it until 100% done or any remaining 1.44 wikis will just totally fatal. [01:30:34] Oh that's rough. At least [extension removal discussions](https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Tech:Noticeboard/Removing_extensions_for_the_MediaWiki_1.45_upgrade) don't have any controversial extension: they're one of no response, don't care about removal, and please keep. [01:30:55] I'm guessing Flow is the only remaining blocker of upgrading everything to 1.45? [01:31:00] Yep. [01:31:31] I will be upgrading commonswiki in about 10 minutes also. I may do meta later tonight before I sleep also. [01:31:58] Probably awhile before so I can be on if something happens after. [01:33:17] I can take another look at pppery's script since there is some interest in keeping historical revisions. [01:35:41] Thank you! [01:57:06] [1/2] Oh, right. I always forget. I wanted to ask some questions about communitieswiki because I can't find it. I have a public wiki, but I'm the only editor. I have it linked in Gazetteer of wikis, but I haven't promoted it. And I see that you've created the item for my wiki. What are the inclusion criteria for creating an article for my wiki in the main space? The wiki has some stati [01:57:06] [2/2] stics, but there are very few acceptable articles out of more than 300 and some files. I'm just looking at that, it's not something I'll do soon, but it could be... [02:02:35] [1/2] Did a double-take reading this. [02:02:35] [2/2] It took me a minute to realize "PTW" stands for "Public Test Wiki." [02:02:42] [1/2] We haven't set any criteria for now since discussions around communities have largely fell silent besides my bot occasionally updating statistics, which I find very helpful because I look at the list of all wikis once in a while. [02:02:42] [2/2] If you are willing to put in the time to write an article for your wiki it can be included. [02:06:49] I will be upgrading metawiki to MediaWiki 1.45 in about 20 minutes. [02:08:23] Ah, I see, thank you. I'll check it out later. First, I would have to fix a lot of things on my wiki before taking the next step. And improve it so that it complies as closely as possible with the policy. I haven't given it the attention it deserves. 😀 [02:41:09] Done btw. [03:26:16] [1/2] I think MW 1.45 + DiscussionTools doesn't like HotCat (at least for the version we're running on Meta). Clicking add topic + cancel repeatedly creates edit buttons in the bottom. [03:26:16] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1470621866853924978/image.png?ex=698bf6d7&is=698aa557&hm=2eabed0d69dd4fc6f97102b8fe435e0a6e1e402488a4ae77c4a0e4f1fdbc57d0& [03:27:56] HotCat might just need updated [03:54:32] Discussion Tools would be great for making forum pages if it added new topics to the top of a page instead of the bottom. [03:54:50] The custom of putting new messages below all the others on talk pages never made sense to me. [04:00:01] For stuff like requests it makes external sense to me, older ones are higher up. For discussion, idk it makes sense to me in wiki sense but otherside, shrug [04:56:59] is there a way to enable the light/dark mode switch for logged out users [05:10:11] how do i download the timeless skin im genuinely lost [05:10:21] like where are the folders i can put it in [05:19:14] timeless is enabled by default on all miraheze wikis, you don't need to download anything [05:19:31] such is the case for all extensions and skins [05:19:54] you just toggle them from managewiki, unless they happen to be globally toggled for everyone [05:20:31] yeah i just figured out im such a silly goose [05:20:36] thank you though [05:56:09] [1/3] is there anyway to have infobox cells share? mine looks so jank, every text gets its own cell [05:56:09] [2/3] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1470659586095841511/image.png?ex=698c19f8&is=698ac878&hm=119115141ff7a91f6f4c39c7daf9416b2d66e5c8b507a3698dfeb75b736a785c& [05:56:09] [3/3] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407537962553966603/1470659586620002315/image.png?ex=698c19f8&is=698ac878&hm=35b0073fb28efd5a306a36cb6b1d22b4b88e1c814e41a5456cd10ac12b13c1d1&
