[08:27:53] Hello all! For those of you who speak Italian 🇮🇹🇨🇭 , I'm happy to announce that we're organizing a *satellite event of the Wikimedia Hackathon* for the second time in Italy! [08:27:53] This event, focused on the *Italian-speaking technical community*, is a space to work together on projects, share useful skills in the Wikimedia world, and create connections with similar communities (open data, open source groups). [08:27:54] This onsite event will take place in *Palermo (Sicily) on March 14-16*. You'll find plenty of information about the event here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2025/Satellite_Events/Palermo [08:27:56] Registration is open and scholarship application is available until January 31st. [08:27:58] If there's any question, feel free to reach out to me, and if you'd like to discuss with the Italian-speaking tech community, we have a dedicated Telegram channel (link from the event page). [23:52:28] > how this policy saves money [23:52:29] It saves travel agency time, no more custom booking for each participant with back and forth emails. [23:52:31] Good (for climate) or bad (for wikimedians engagement), it also reduce the appeal for international travel via Wikimedia events. No more "two in one : WM hackathon + personal tourism".
