I don't know if I'm asking in the right place. The special page export is the better way to get a good backup of my wiki. MySQL backup/restore doesn't work when updating mediawiki (at least for me). But with the "export" special page generates an xml that doesn't include the stats for every page. So I loose the stats in every mediawiki ugrade. [13:02:48] dbecker: it does work when updating mediawiki. you should work out the problem you have with that instead of using a different method. [13:03:00] dbecker: remember you have to either run the database updated or the installer when upgrading, to get schema changes applied [13:03:11] My wish is that the xml generated with export page includes the stats for every page [13:03:24] <^demon> dbecker: It doesn't do that. [13:03:39] <^demon> theocrite: Weird. [13:03:48] flyingpgparchment: let me tell you what happened to me [13:06:21] flyingpgparchment: when I updated from 1.13 (or one before) to 1.14, one table was added. Then I couldn't use the .sql file from MySQL because of that new table. There was a problem related with table indexes, some pages turned inaccesibles from some links inside the wiki. [13:06:50] dbecker: you should import the sql first [13:06:56] the installer will apply the necessary changes [13:08:20] flyingpgparchment: well, it seems that it doesn't work that way in a Fedora update. It is automatic and I realised the wiki was broken when I needed to open one wiki page I usually don't use too much. [13:08:43] flyingpgparchment: the point is that there is a solution [13:08:57] 03thomasv * r55817 10/trunk/phase3/includes/DjVuImage.php: follow-up to r55768 [13:09:29] flyingpgparchment: and it is to use Export and list all the pages I want to backup, update (with packagekit) and later import that xml [13:10:17] flyingpgparchment: the only problem is that I loose the statistics for every page. Maybe a new tag for the stat for every page may be included in that xml ! That's my wish. [13:11:27] *^demon stabs the fedora update [13:11:35] <^demon> s/update/package [13:12:29] flyingpgparchment: If wikimedia team would consider adding that stat to the xml file, would you please consider adding a Special:ExportEverything page that would export all the local mediawiki pages to the xml file too. [13:13:14] Ok I found what was wrong. There was a memcahed on the server. I just had to restart it. -_- [13:13:24] <^demon> theocrite: Yay. Working now? [13:13:43] Yes. I read a recent NY Times article about flagged revs and it implies that it's just added for "living people" on the english wikipedia so far. ( http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/25/technology/internet/25wikipedia.html ) did you somehow manage to restrict the revision to that subset of articles? I'm working on another Wiki at the moment and we'd like to have this revision control only for certain articles. however, the "accidental" revew [13:15:03] s of other articles are spreading and we can't easily take these off the revision cycle. so is there a way to restrict that? [13:15:44] gwern over at #Wikipedia said it might be connected to certain categories. does anyone know? [13:15:49] why aren't third-party packages discouraged in the docs, if they cause that many problems and are pretty often out of date? [13:16:37] <^demon> MaxSem: docs/distributors.txt exists so they can hopefully make their packages sane. [13:17:25] <^demon> I tried the Ubuntu package awhile back and it installed pretty sanely out of the box. So they're not inherently bad. Package maintainers just have this habit of moving our directory structure around, which tends to break things. [13:28:24] RoanKattouw: still have that suggestion code you wrote?
