Frankly the BOM is at fault pretty much, most languages run from a script file (not a downloaded script with mime) asume UTF-8. The UTF-8, bom is unnecessary, has nothing to do with byte order (bom=byte order mark), and causes problems when cat'ing files.

I've seen some Mediawiki Extensions and some Board-Mediawiki Integration Scripts, but I can't really decide. Does someone here has any experience with integrating Mediawiki and a Forum and can recommend something ? Maybe someone knows a Site which combines a Forum and Mediawiki, that would also help ..
