[02:15:58] Hello [02:16:06] Where I can find a wiki farm? [02:19:25] At the wiki farm shop [03:30:30] Hi. [03:30:42] I'm here because on my wiki there is a My_wiki: namespace. [03:30:52] That always appears on my stuff on the wiki. [03:31:09] that's the project namespace [03:31:09] The title is correct, it says "Mona the Vampire Wiki is made by people like you" [03:31:17] Right. [03:31:21] But I need to change it. [03:31:27] Because that is the default. [03:31:40] I need it to be Wiki: [03:31:49] But I can't find how to do this. [03:31:53] I have an FTP. [03:32:06] Can you tell me which file and which line to find this info in? [03:32:15] It's v 1.23.10 [03:32:54] Thanks for your time! [03:36:41] Clearer: to change My_wiki: to Wiki: [03:37:41] https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Change_the_name_of_the_wiki [03:51:06] Thanks so much! [03:51:10] I've found what I'm looking for! [03:51:14] Peace out! [04:18:37] I'm new to mediawiki. Need some help in setting up the Math extension. According to the manual (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Math), I need to define $wgMathDirectory and $wgMathPath in LocalSettings.php. I don't understand the meaning of these variables. Can someone help? [04:49:54] junkwarhead: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Math#Configuration_settings, Explains what they are, and how they are used, What do you need help with? [04:50:35] The defaults which the extension uses, should be fine anyway in most cases, so you don't need to change them [05:46:46] hi [05:47:06] does any one can help me on how can i align a note in my wiki? [12:20:52] hey [12:21:01] is it possible to get an Article class object in a skin? [12:23:01] sasan, yes. Upload a favicon.ico [12:23:19] in where? [12:24:35] Just place it anywhere [12:24:43] and then add $wgFavicon = "../favicon.ico"; to localsettings.php [12:25:01] To whereever the favicon is [12:25:29] ok, i got it [12:34:21] is there a way to tell whether an article is protected or not having the RequestContext? [12:34:36] or if the revision has been patrolled? [12:37:31] ah got it already [14:17:46] In case anyone is interested, I thought this page was interesting enough to create: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Comparison_of_extensions_in_distributions [14:47:18] hello all, question: I just upgraded my MediaWiki server installation from 1.20 to 1.23. I backed-up my MySQL Database before and after. The upgrade shrank the DB from 86MB to 5MB! (browsing my wiki I don't see anything missing)... Thoughts? [15:06:09] fl0ki: I guess it likely purged some caches that are in the database [15:06:43] i wish I had that much cache ;) so, no need to worrY? [15:06:52] You could reimport the database under a new name, and then dump table sizes [15:07:07] that's a good idea [15:10:14] http://p.defau.lt/?L1dgOrgUJbUDpUPde0vuig is the query I use... [15:35:47] thx [16:14:59] br [16:15:08] oops, sry [16:46:17] Does anyone know how to add admin highlights to Monaco-skinned wikis? [16:47:33] rarityfan, admin highlights? [16:48:04] Krenair: You know, different .CSS colours on the recent changes? [16:48:19] what, for admin accounts? [16:48:26] Yes. [17:19:05] Hiya and big thanks for the g8 MW [17:19:21] I am having a bit of a catastrophe with one MW install [17:19:26] I get error [17:19:27] mysqldump: Got error: 144: Table './globba12si/searchindex' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed when using LOCK TABLES [17:19:40] when trying to mysqldump alldatabases [17:19:57] what to do? [17:21:51] I need to buy a domain for a wiki I'm setting up, but I'm 16 and don't have a credit card. How do I go about this? [17:28:59] rarityfan: borrow someone's cc to purchase the domain ? [17:42:28] hmm.. [17:42:39] managed to repair the table [17:44:00] there's a gigaton of spam and other nastiness in this one MW installation I have .... [17:44:07] The .sql dump is 700MB [17:44:37] I didn't watch it and it got under attack and it went on for a while before I noticed [17:44:45] automated vandalism.. [17:45:11] There are only 20 or so real articles with real content that need to be kept and all the rest should go [17:45:41] how should I go about this..? I was thinking of XML-exporting the stuff I need and importing that into a clean install [17:45:50] is this sensible ? [17:56:35] is there a way to roll back all changes since date X ? [19:08:21] I'm trying to work around the problem but I run into another problem [19:08:51] In Special:SpecialPages there is "Export pages" but "Import pages" is missing.. what to do ? [19:09:12] jubo2: perhaps you do not have the permission to import pages [19:09:15] !import [19:09:15] To import pages a few pages, use Special:Import - you can also import pages directly from another wiki (see !importsources). For mass imports, use importDump.php - see for details. NOTE: when using content from another wiki, follow the LICENSE TERMS, especially, attribute source and authors! [19:09:16] jubo2: I believe importing requires ... yeah, that [19:09:41] jubo2: since it does not damage the wiki to export stuff, that's permitted to everyone by default [19:09:43] it's granted to administrators by default (wikimedia wikis have various settings and usually have strict rules about imports) [19:09:50] MatmaRex: you are quite right. I'm not logged in.. my bad [19:11:29] now it complains that "The file is bigger then the allowed upload size" [19:11:39] so I need to raise that.. somewhere [19:12:33] meh [19:12:36] can anyone tell me [19:12:44] in php.ini.. doing it now [19:12:51] what is NaviagtionalId in Site? [19:13:02] jubo2: php.ini, .htaccess [19:13:06] EVERYEHERE :p [19:14:13] lazowik: I don't know about your problem. I was just commenting on what I'm doing [19:14:26] yeah, I know [19:15:43] *NavigationId [19:22:33] I'm trying the import ( for the 2nd time ) and it imports only some articles, not all [19:22:39] what could I do to fix this ? [19:23:12] jubo2: size is still the cause? [19:23:25] lazowik: it doesn't complain of too large a file [19:23:30] I check how big it is [19:23:47] 7,8MB [19:23:55] I set the limit to 20MB in php.ini [19:23:56] well, you could check logs for some errors [19:27:18] lazowik: like MW log I gather.. where does it log ? [19:27:46] no, web server log [19:28:02] but what are the symptoms? [19:28:04] ok.. I look at that /var/log/www/ I gather [19:29:18] yes.. there is info.. [19:29:28] Maximum execution time of 30 exceeded... [19:29:56] where do I change that ? [19:30:18] it [19:30:23] it's a PHP fatal error [19:30:56] ah [19:30:58] also php.ini [19:31:06] ok [19:31:21] max_execution_time [19:34:13] hmm, looks like these interwikiids are "aliases" for sites [19:35:02] but where do I set them? [19:39:29] hi all, I am new to mediawiki codebase and to get started I am trying to fix a quite simple looking bug, and since this will be my first one, i want to know if i'm doing right and should i upload the patch. Can anyone help me getting started? [19:41:27] codebump: if you know how, you can submit the patch [19:41:34] then people will review it [19:41:43] and you'll make corrections if necessary [19:42:00] if you send a patch set it's not final [19:45:16] lazowik: yeah, i know that, can i discuss the bug here, i mean is this place ok for that? [19:45:24] sure [19:46:04] irc for more discussion [19:46:12] bugzilla for persistent notes [19:46:17] important ones [19:46:25] at least that's the way I do it [19:47:02] https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23824 : this is the bug i am trying to fix, i changed css file a bit and was able to get it fixed (more details in a comment there) [19:49:56] codebump: this comment looks ok [19:50:11] (don't know the answer though) [19:52:26] lazowik: should I upload a patch through gerrit? I couldnt understand why people want disable dialogs to disable only specific ones? similar discussion went on in bug-23942. [19:52:57] yep, through gerrit [19:53:04] there is a tutorial somewhere [19:53:18] hmm [19:53:19] !gerrit [19:53:19] https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#q,$1,n,z [19:53:24] almos… [19:53:27] *almost… [19:53:54] codebump: here's a really short one: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Getting_started [19:54:14] and here more detailed: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Tutorial [19:54:42] I'd go with the second, or are you novice to mw only, not code review in general? [19:54:52] yeah i have seen these tut, thanks lazowik ,, and next time i will try some higher priority ones.. :) [19:55:10] i am a novice [19:55:16] just getting started [20:28:00] I'm having trouble setting the interwiki prefixes correctly [20:28:20] I added 'w' to point to http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/$1 [20:28:32] in the special page for managing interwiki links [20:28:54] the entry is there but all the [[w:Article name]] are still red [20:34:13] jubo2: I tried and it works in my sandbox [20:34:42] hmm.. [20:35:38] Someone hates free information regarding business studies. [20:36:14] There is a botnet hitting the place where the wiki used to be like every few seconds [20:36:28] it's an extremely low traffic site when it's not under attack [20:40:36] now the links turned blue [20:40:44] I didn't touch a thing.. I think.. [20:59:42] Having a weird issue with 502 timeouts on imports over 1.5MB. Cranked up slowlog, but not seeing anything there. Any suggestions where to look? [21:05:38] need to catch some shut-eye now [21:05:42] thanks for the help [21:06:11] and thanks for the great wiki software [21:06:16] nighty night [21:22:43] Hi! I have a question about .htaccess "rules". Let's say my site is www.mysite.com, and the article path is www.mysite.com/$article. I want the site to look orderly - mysite.com/w/$article isn't much to my liking. The question - is it not safe to have such rewrite rules that cases the article path to follow the URL directly? [21:23:14] I'm thinking things like update scripts may not work, I haven't tried. [21:25:27] Also, if I upload any other file to "www.mysite.com" (Say, to a sub-folder "albums"), then ti tries to take me to a wiki page. Eg, albums/group.png becomes a wiki article titled www.mysite.com/albums/groups.png. Does this mean other folders need their own re-write rules?
