[00:00:03] but I thought that you would be api to know [00:00:21] happy* [02:25:39] Hey guys, I had a question about the tag. [02:31:13] !ask [02:31:13] Please feel free to ask your question: if anybody who knows the answer is around, they will surely reply. Don't ask for help or for attention before actually asking your question, that's just a waste of time – both yours and everybody else's. :) [02:31:33] drewmutt_: ping ^ [02:32:26] Not that I am very familiar with the translation extension. [02:32:45] Fair enough ^_^ I'm changing text on a page with a tag. I understand if I remove copy I should dump the "unit marker" but should I update the others? [02:33:08] (So they're sequential) [02:34:19] Or should I dump all the unit markers? Because I understand they're added automatically. [02:35:02] drewmutt_: As far as I know you should never update the markers; I think the extension will change the numbers if it needs. It uses the markers to identify which strings have been translated. [02:35:35] Yes you should delete them though if you delete a string though. (I think) [02:36:24] MTres19_M_: Okie, because I saw some mention of unit markers are how it determines what has / hasn't been translated. But, I guess it can probably figure that out. [02:37:36] drewmutt_: Yes, each string is identified by a unit marker. If you change the numbers on the markers, then the extension will think you've changed the strings and they need to be retranslated. [02:38:07] MTres19_M_: Which in my case is true, so I should change them? [02:40:38] drewmutt_: No, just change the text and it will detect the change. Basically, changing the marker will attach a new string to an old marker, so the extension will think the string has changed. Just don't change the numbers in the markers and you'll be fine. (Hopefully) [02:41:02] MTres19_M_: Fantastic, thanks for your help! [02:41:16] No problem and good luck. [06:15:25] I have downloaded the mediawiki source code manually an hosted it locally , but when I use git pull master origin does it update entire code presently using?, PresentlyI am running on mediawiki version 1.28, I have forked latest code of mediwiki in my git [07:29:22] Hello. [07:29:22] without actually locally editing the .php file only i18n [07:29:22] Maybe somehow overriding it in LocalSettings.php? [14:48:35] I just setup a new installation of MediaWiki via Softaculous (webhosting one click install). I can login with my account but when I go to the Preferences area, none of the Tab links (appearance, editing, etc...) work. The URL changes to show the link was clicked and the browser says it is done loading. Do these area's work? [14:51:31] Hi, is it possible to grant a group temporary at WMF wikis? [14:53:12] Mulsiphix: looks like a problem with JavaScript, can you check your JavaScript console? (usually by hitting F12, a new panel/window appears in the browser, reload the page and try to reproduce the issue again) [14:53:33] ok, trying now [14:54:36] I have no idea how that worked, but it works perfectly now.
