[01:21:44] I am in need of some assistance swapping a media wiki 1.23 LTS wiki from lucene search to cirrus search. does anyone remember lsearchd v2.1? The cirrus part seems reasonably straight forward, but Im unsure how to remove lsearchd. [01:22:52] at a guess remove /var/www/lucene-search-2.1 and associated cron jobs that build the indexes, and likely something in MWSearch.php which seems to contain the wiki configuration for the search [01:23:13] any other tips? [01:36:38] antus: I'd probably start by upgrading from MW 1.23 [02:00:29] Reedy: Yeah i want to update to v1.26 LTS but it comes down to a priority thing of my employer. Thats next on my road map but the users will benifit more from fixing the search first. The lucene indexer is unmainteained and doesnt complete, so its pot luck if you can find a page your searching for or not :( [02:01:28] Fixing up search stuff on newer MW is probably gonna be easier [02:01:41] Surely you can point out to do one, you need to have done the other first? [02:03:10] Its complicated in a large organisation. I have my reasons, and im sure you dont really care ;) [02:04:09] I dont have buy in to fix search either, but picking my battles one at a time. [02:05:27] Upgrading MW shouldn't take you much time though... [02:05:32] Unless you're using custom extensions [02:50:54] Reedy: yes there are a few custom extensions, but nothing problematic like the lsearchd indexer [04:19:48] Hi [04:20:39] Anyone live here [06:24:28] hi [06:24:58] anyone tried installing MW on Linux Mint lately? [06:25:31] I'm getting two weird, yet fatal errors on init here [06:28:56] mbstring and xml are reported missing, yet they are built on PHP, as php -m proves [06:29:17] anyone? :) [06:46:33] same for "intl" in the next step, though that's not fatal [07:27:49] hi tactica [07:28:33] tactica: maybe they're not available in whatever php your webserver is running? (apache or fcgi?) [07:35:22] yet the complaints point to PHP... [16:31:06] hello when I am logging into summerofcode.withgoogle.com ,I am getting the message * We couldn't find an account for you...Registration is currently not open* Can anybody please tell me how to proceed ? I am to submit the proposal in the site ... [16:45:49] @mvolz still getting the same problem. Is the deadline over? [16:46:56] I think so - is that why you couldn't log in? [16:49:03] Yeah, it was 4 UTC which was 45 minutes ago. [16:53:05] So,will my proposal not even be considered :( ? Any solution [16:56:11] if you did not submit your proposal by the deadline, it is highly unlikely that they will accept late submissions [16:57:09] you could try contacting the organizers for GSoC asking for an exception [17:00:04] ok [19:22:50] mvolz: i made myself coordinator on phab on that one task fyi [20:47:08] Hello! [20:47:51] hello michaela_ [20:48:00] I want to publish an entire book in wikibooks. I have all the necessary rights. But I do no not know how exactly I start a book. I have read all the helps but could not find the place where I actually start with the book. Please show me the page. Thank you. [20:48:00] PS: You can see the full book in my sandbox. [20:48:33] on which edition? [20:48:53] Wikibooks [20:49:15] on which language? [20:49:22] English [20:50:15] Ma mothertongue is German. And yours? [20:50:16] there doesn't seem to be anything special: [20:50:17] Write the first page[edit] [20:50:18] Read the naming policy on how to arrange and name your book. Visit Help:Pages for details on creating a new page for the book's table of contents. Choose a title, something short and descriptive without abbreviations. Create the page the way you want it, and save it. [20:50:22] Spanish [20:51:15] Can you plaese give me the link, where I have to start my first page. [20:51:49] how will you title your book? [20:52:17] My article is alredy written. I only want to publish it. I'll send you the entire work... [20:53:03] Here is the article https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/User:Michael_Striebel/sandbox [20:53:57] I just do not know where to copy it, so that everyone can see it. [20:55:10] ut lacks all fotmatting... [20:55:38] *it [20:55:47] *it lacks all formatting... [20:56:46] Yes I know. I thought, that I have to put it at some place so that me and others can edit it. [20:57:52] I published a book in German years ago. But I forgot how I started that. I am a coworker of wikipedia. So I am familiar with almost all details. [20:58:24] But I just do not know on wich page I should start. [21:02:06] Platonides: I am not shure, wether you understand my problem. May be I cannot explain it correctly? [21:03:17] first of all [21:03:30] who owns the copyright for that book? [21:03:52] This is my brother who asked me to pulish it in his name. [21:05:19] My name is Michael F. Striebel, my brothers name is Roman F. Striebel. Do you need a document to prouve that he wants me to publish it? [21:05:54] that could help clarify the copyright status [21:06:50] Platonides: What kind of a document do you wish? An e-mail? Or what else? [21:07:28] To whom should the e-mail be adressed? Do you want it on dpaste? [21:07:39] that would ben an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org [21:08:43] Okay, so I will do that first. Thank you meanwhile for your help. [21:09:12] inspire yourself on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Email_templates#E-mail_template_for_release_of_rights_to_a_file [21:09:19] (although this is about text) [21:18:37] Thank you Platonides! [21:20:43] good luck
