[02:45:17] Dekkzter: doubtful [02:45:27] I take it you couldn't figure it out? :( [05:29:42] Hi all, can anyone please help me understand how mw.track works? [05:30:36] when I mw.track something, where do I see any success/error message? [07:05:23] slayerjain: hi [07:05:47] slayerjain: it's kind of documented at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/ResourceLoader/Core_modules#mw.track [07:06:20] slayerjain: basically on its own it doesn't something, you need to hook it up with something using mw.trackSubscribe [09:15:04] Hi legoktm, Thanks for the response. can please you point out some nice examples to understand more about this? [09:41:27] DB connection error: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (localhost). [09:41:47] yeah .. I checked the host, the username and the password and tried again ... many times [09:43:03] So far, my hypothesis is, that the mediawiki installation scripts main purpose is to prevent as many people from installation as possible. [09:50:20] Not moving forward. connection to DB on command line is with no problems - of course. [11:38:26] Skizzerz, exactly :/ [13:30:07] is there a way to merge page histories? [13:31:56] found it: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Merging_histories [17:40:39] Can anyone tell me how I would get https://wiki.crygaia.org/view/Template:Webarchive to work in the way suggested in Usage? (one template for making links after a URL like [http://wikipedia.org wikipedia.org]([linkhere Webcitation archive])([linkhere Archive.is])([linkhere Wayback machine]) - similar to the one on Wikipedia but without needing a lua program to work like wikipedia's one ( [17:40:40] ... [17:40:40] ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Archive needs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module:Webarchive which seems to be much more complicated than to be able to copy paste it to another wiki ) [17:43:36] it depends, if you get Extension:Scribunto to work on the other wiki, it's more easy than trying to translate the code into wikisyntax [17:44:10] you can try, however, to look at the template history and see if there's a version from before it was converted to use a Lua module [18:27:08] Vulpix : Yeah that's actualy how that template on crygaia was created by looking into the history of the old one, but the problem is we don't have any experts on template code and it seems a pain to get it to work, that one was meant to be a simplified copy but when used on pages like https://wiki.crygaia.org/view/Initiation it doesn't work :( [18:30:15] I'm also admin on a few wikias that would find a template like this really useful since games companies tend to delete the old websites when they make sequels and such... I think it could help a lot of people because outside of wikipedia not many people know webcite and stuff are worth using in case a link dies later I think making it easier for people to use on wikis could be areally good [18:30:16] thing ... [18:30:17] ... but I don't know how :(
