[00:30:16] Hey do someone can check my stackoverflow question and answer if you know what is going on? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49058208/mediawiki-popuppages-extension-not-working [00:55:37] Does anyone have ever used the following extension? https://m.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PopupPages [01:07:49] Hello, I am having a couple of problems that I can't find answers to on the MediaWiki help pages. [01:08:02] One issue I am having has to do with external links: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Links#External_links [01:09:11] Any time I create an external link, there is always trailing whitespace. I though I had seen an answer to this, but don't remember where. Is there a way to omit that trailing whitespace so that text flows smoothly? [01:09:39] Is the trailing whitespace because the icon is missing? [01:10:25] Example: "go to [http://somepage.com/ this page] for info" looks like "go to this page for info". [01:10:48] The wiki in question is here: https://stendhalgame.org/wiki [01:11:40] Example page with an external link? [01:11:52] Is there a way to "hide" icons completely so they don't use space, even if they are missing. [01:12:10] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London#External_links [01:12:16] You see the box with the arrow? [01:12:22] Okay, give me a minute & I can find an example on that wiki. [01:12:45] Yes, I see the links with the arrows. [01:14:56] Here is the example I found: https://stendhalgame.org/wiki/Stendhal_missing_images#Animals_and_Monsters [01:15:26] In the table, the filename "caiman.png" has some text in the "notes" column with external links & trailing whitespace. [01:17:52] It appears that on that particular wiki, external links prefixed with "http" show the arrow icon. But links prefixed with "https" do not. Not sure why the admin has it set up that way. [01:22:59] I'm guessing wiki admin would have to change setting to remove whitespace/arrow, or to show arrow for "https" links. [01:23:32] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:External_link_icons#Custom_link_icons [01:23:37] "To remove all the default icons, use this CSS:" [01:24:25] Ah, thank you Reedy! I will talk to wiki admin. [01:25:07] If the wiki has user css enabled, you can test the css in your user account first, by putting it to https://stendhalgame.org/wiki/Special:MyPage/common.css . [01:25:42] Thank you Sveta, I will check if that is enabled. [01:25:43] You can find out by visiting https://stendhalgame.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering and seeing whether it has links to 'Custom CSS' there. [01:27:40] I don't see anything on that preferences page that says anything about CSS. So it must not be enabled. But I will ask admin to enable it. [01:28:14] OK. [01:29:34] The other issue I am having is with a redirect. I am trying to redirect to an internal page, but that page is dynamic (?), & can use URL query parameters (I think they are called). But I can't figure out how to use the parameters in the internal wiki link declaration. [01:29:39] Here is the redirect page: https://stendhalgame.org/wiki/Templates [01:30:04] And here is the page I want to redirect to with parameters already added: https://stendhalgame.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixIndex&prefix=Template%3A [01:34:04] AntumDeluge, you are using mediawiki 1.26.0. Perhaps worth pointing out to the wiki admin that this version is EOL. (That's what https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download says.) [01:34:35] Oh! I will definitely tell admin that. [01:36:34] Thank you. :-) [01:40:30] Regarding redirects, I'd suggest putting {{Special:PrefixIndex/Template:}} instead of the redirect on that page. "#REDIRECT [[Special:PrefixIndex/Template:]]" would work too. [01:40:41] The former transcludes the list of templates. [01:44:42] That's perfect! Thank you Sveta! [01:45:02] No worries. :-) [02:30:33] Hey do someone can check my stackoverflow question and answer if you know what is going on? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49058208/mediawiki-popuppages-extension-not-working [03:02:33] jatapiaro, from comments, it looks like a bug needs to be filed. [03:16:35] Where can I fill something about the bug? [03:17:57] Oh, sorry. Wait. [03:21:15] thanks [04:13:35] jackmcbarn, please ask on its talk page. I do not see a phabricator tag for it. [04:17:01] Kinda weird - I'm using the SimpleRadiusAuth extention (Well, trying to at least), and when I try to authenticate I get " Auto-creation of a local account failed: Automatic account creation is not allowed.". $wgGroupPermissions['*']['autocreateaccount'] = true; and $wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount'] = true; in localsettings [04:22:10] Sveta: we always have mediawiki-extensions-other for that ;) [04:30:39] OK [04:30:40] Where bug reports go to die [04:31:16] Yea, extension devs don't get these reports in their emails I think. [04:31:55] There is a 0% chance that a mediawiki-extension-other bug report will be answered [04:32:45] of course hes asking for help with an obscure unmaintained extension, chance of hin getting an answer is probably pretty poor regardless [04:33:10] I'd perhaps email its developer, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Hypergrove [04:33:29] extension talk page or directly emailing author is probs best bet, but still long shot [04:44:23] Does wiki markup support variables? Or does the variables extension need to be installed before that can be done? [04:44:39] Everything I have found references the extension. [14:07:23] what is best for mediawiki? memory or vcpu? [17:27:36] Hi. How can I do so that no other user can edit my article? [17:31:23] really? [18:23:01] what is best for mediawiki? memory or vcpu? [18:23:08] sorry i'm getting disconnected [21:38:17] Dear pals, I have my local mediawiki site, and I want to rename some namespace, so to change "User" into "Editor". I want to change it [21:38:32] in tabs and in search page. Where can I change this? [21:38:44] It looks like a localization. [21:38:47] Thank you! [21:51:04] Oh, noone here...
