[06:58:24] Hi Friends [06:58:54] I am getting below error in mediawiki 1.31 [06:58:56] Fatal error: Uncaught ConfigException: GlobalVarConfig::get: undefined option: 'CommandLineMode' in /var/www/html/mediawiki/includes/config/GlobalVarConfig.php:53 [06:59:11] can you guys help me on this? [09:43:09] I´m just translating numerous pages into German. At the page „New Developers“ it´s only pssible to translate some first lines. How could I translate the whole page? [13:21:13] random thought that seems useful: Would it be good to have a "Show preview and changes"-button? [13:22:13] coz the programs to make preview and to show changes have already been written by fine people so putting the 3rd button "show both, plox" would be quite trivial it seems to me [13:23:16] that would help in tracking down accidental formatting characters and missing formatting characters [16:10:30] wtf is going on at mw today [16:46:16] I´m just translating numerous pages into German. At the page „New Developers“ it´s only pssible to translate some first lines. How could I translate the whole page? [16:49:40] Partynia: Someone needs to split it into more sections for translating [16:51:01] Thx. But who? [16:51:23] or „How“? [16:51:49] If you look at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=New_Developers&action=edit (the source of the english) [16:51:56] You'll see etc [16:52:20] yes I saw it [16:56:00] Partynia: I just added some more sections [16:56:47] thx - how can I do it myself? [16:58:05] In the same way that I've done them :) [16:58:42] https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=New_Developers&diff=3334948&oldid=3310056 [16:59:29] Next bit gets a bit more complicated with the templates... [17:00:14] I should take a training from someone on translation markup... I never feel comfortable messing with it [17:01:23] I can do some stuff... But it's definitely not easy [17:02:33] Thx. Hm, ok to put some etc seems easy, but the templates? [17:03:37] Partynia: there is some documentation at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_example about how to do some of the basic markup [17:04:11] ok thx - I will study it [17:05:06] I don't see anything there about how to mark up template usage though... [17:06:56] * bd808 found https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:Translatable_template [17:11:13] thx, bd808, it seems to be complicated [19:26:12] The MW man page for Page Titles [1] says that "(" and ")" will be converted into their equivalent %-hex notation, but I'm not seeing any evidence of that from the user perspective. Is it safe to start a Page with with "(" ? .. Is it safe to set a Display Title to a string that begins with "(" ? [19:26:12] [1] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Page_title [19:45:38] revansx[m]: Browsers nowadays display the URLs in the location bar "prettified", displaying the special characters instead of their %-hex notation. However, if you copy&paste that URL on a plain text editor you'll notice the %-hex representation [19:48:03] It's perfectly fine to use ( and ) on page titles. Note, however, that when pasting such URLs on mediums that auto-linkify them, sometimes they have trouble linking URLs that contain a leading ), often excluding it from the link and leading to a non-existent page [19:49:33] Ok. Cool. Thanks. It seems to work fine but i got nervous when I read the man page and wanted to ask here. [22:32:43] Using MW 1.31.0, trying to add text with external links to the footer. Basic attempt to add text failing: https://dpaste.de/dsPj Added the requisite pages and have tried both the link method and the 'footertext' option. [22:33:01] Nothing shows up, even after purging cache. [22:41:23] We're using an old custom skin, is that likely the issue? The standard links all show up [22:53:16] i have a curious situation here. i ve uploaded a image to a page with an article and it is saved and published. However I can only see the image in the page when i am logged in the wiki. If i am not or a visitor opens the article, outside the session login, the image that i uploaded is not shown. Instead, it shows the older/previous image of the article. [22:53:30] Any suggestions about what this might be? [23:04:17] HeXiLeD 0 is this new behaviour or has it been this way since the beginning? Have there been any changes to img_auth.php? (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Image_Authorization#How_Does_%22img_auth.php%22_Work?) [23:13:36] Abulafia: happened after my last upgrade to 1.31 [23:15:31] What happens when you run php checkImages.php from the maintenance folder? [23:16:08] You might want to do maintenance/rebuildImages.php as per https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:FAQ#%E2%80%A6are_some_of_my_images_not_showing_up_after_an_upgrade? [23:23:54] Good images: 647/650 [23:24:11] trying to rebuild now [23:26:14] still no luck [23:54:45] I can't remember if you have to clear cache after doing an image rebuild, but might be worth checking.
