I'm looking at my notes. I have written that the I should set $wgReadOnly and then 'git pull && composer update --no-dev && php maintenance/update.php' and unset $wgReadOnly. These instructions I got from https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download_from_Git#Keeping_up_to_date [13:35:11] ummm... problem ... 'git pull' is pulling 1.35.0-wmf [13:35:34] I should probably have described I want the latest of release 1.34 [13:37:38] I'm pretty sure I told git that I want the stable release, not the development branch [13:38:20] I'm going to go ahead with the rest of the instructions to see how it goes and what is end result. I have full backup [13:44:20] Hmmm... despite seeing 1.35-wmf stuff being flashed when doing 'git pull' I am seeing wiki version "1.34.1 (d29905e)" at the end of procedure [13:55:50] jukebohi: It'll pull branches and such [13:56:11] yeah I get it.. new branches have been added and that why it is pulling them [14:08:10] I'm not sure if this is a required step: 'cd extensions && git submodule update --init --recursive && cd ..' [14:08:40] doing it causes Cite and OATHAuth submodule paths to be checked out [14:08:50] What version did you upgrade from? [14:08:56] 1.34.0 [14:09:07] It'll bring in any new bundled extensions, along with any updates to them [14:09:12] So it's always worth doing after you update [14:09:39] but aren't I supposed to run maintenance/update.php as last step? [14:09:49] You can [14:09:57] We don't usually do schema changes in point releases [14:10:10] But sometimes bug fixes happen that change logic and mean patches might be run [14:11:59] Reedy: could you look at my 8-point list of what to do in what order to upgrade a minor version and comment if it is ok as it is or needs something fixed? https://paste.debian.net/1137078/ [14:12:26] Looks fine to me [14:12:33] Thanks Reedy! [14:12:34] Like I say, some of the commands might not need to be run every time [14:12:39] But it's not going to harm things doing sp [14:12:51] *doing so [14:33:51] Ok. Single wikis were a breeze. Now for the hairy one, a wiki family of 2 wikis [14:34:07] but first coffee break so the coffee does not go cold [14:34:23] and some porridge [14:44:02] I've written that to upgrade the wiki family I need to disable the shared tables, copy the shared tables from the database of the main wiki to the secondary wiki and then run update.php on each wiki and after that re-enable the shared tables. I'm not at all sure if I have a sensible set of shared table. Original intention was single-login to both wikis (and it works) [14:50:35] I've not really got any working knowledge of shared tables in MW, so can't really help with that one unfortunately [14:58:26] Hi, is there a replacement of the EditAccount extension? [14:59:55] tyteen4a03: EditUser maybe, but that's seemingly in a similar state to EditAccount was before it was archived [15:00:08] Yeah, it looks like both are abandoned [16:40:47] Now trying to upgrade the wiki family of 2 wikis: I get error "Package wikibase/term-store is abandoned, you should avoid using it. No replacement was suggested." on orange background when running 'composer update --no-dev' [16:45:55] >DEPRECATED: Similar interfaces have been added to wikibase/data-model-services and continue to be maintained as part of that library. [16:46:07] Have you updated the Wikibase extensions? [16:51:22] Depending on how you've setup your composer.json... You might nee dto change it [19:22:40] Thank you, thank you, thank you who make the awesome quality software, documentation and support happen. All wikis including the wiki family upgraded 1.34.0 -> 1.34.1 with git pull method. [19:29:10] I really appreciate the quality, I have been upgrading since Phase III of March 2003. [20:24:06] what is at at fault in a situation where image load on page preview but disappeared when the page is published? [20:33:19] MediaWiki? :P [20:33:30] You'd have to look at the browser console etc [20:33:47] . [20:34:42] Please hold let me check [21:09:20] From the console: [21:09:20] This page is using the deprecated ResourceLoader module "jquery.ui.core".Please use OOUI instead.mw.loader.implement.css @ VM146:29runScript @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:13(anonymous) @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:14flushCssBuffer @ [21:09:21] load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:6requestAnimationFrame (async)addEmbeddedCSS @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:6execute @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:15doPropagation @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:7requestIdleCallback [21:09:21] (async)requestPropagation @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:8setAndPropagate @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:8markModuleReady @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:13runScript @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:14(anonymous) @ [21:09:22] load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:14flushCssBuffer @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:6requestAnimationFrame (async)addEmbeddedCSS @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:6execute @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:15doPropagation @ [21:09:22] load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:7requestIdleCallback (async)requestPropagation @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:8setAndPropagate @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:8implement @ load.php?lang=en&modules=startup&only=scripts&skin=vector:20(anonymous) @ [21:09:23] load.php?debug=false&lang=en&modules=ext.wikiEditor&skin=vector&version=03lk25p:1 [21:35:58] ah Sigyn left, they were lucky they didn't get sniped [21:39:47] lol
