[06:11:07] test [15:17:06] misc things today: organizing and verifying pending tickets [15:17:56] preparing db1022: checking fragmentation, writing a checksum script [15:18:18] sanitizing some pending dbs on labs [15:18:35] fixing some permisions also there [15:18:42] nothing production-impacting [15:19:12] after the mobile stats cron being commented, a calmed day [15:19:33] only 1047 is lagging sometimes [15:29:53] ^my IRC english is horrible [15:32:03] and answering about context- "/me cries" is also not great context. :-) But I do not expect more out of office ours.- you shouldn't either! :-) ;-) [20:26:33] Is there anyone here? [20:31:45] yes? [20:32:28] Hello Krenair, [20:32:32] hi [20:32:47] THis is a channel to ask about DB stuff right? [20:32:51] yep [20:33:14] Ok, great. I have a few questions. I am a db noob. [20:34:02] Some background will probably help. I wrote a python program that will query some sensors, and then post the information to a webserver page running with Django. [20:35:19] The website I am creating, will show this information, but I have run into a conundrum. I come from C#/C/C++ where you act on the data and process it right away. [20:36:20] I see that there is a trend where you just store data, and then act on it. My question is: Do I process the data on the spot, or do I do it later on? [20:37:14] Um [20:37:24] This channel is for the wikimedia databases [20:37:28] I wanted to add a feature of the sorts that would be like: If Sensor detects PC is off, report it with an email ... xD [20:37:29] hahaha [20:37:35] Crap, sorry. [20:37:38] I.e. the databases behind these sites: https://www.wikimedia.org/ [20:37:46] I read wikipedia. [20:38:12] Well, maybe you have experience with this stuff. [20:38:50] Oh... It's totaly unrelated to what I was asking. [20:47:40] Sorry about that, but thank you for trying.
