[04:25:48] tgr: Hi [04:26:09] hi smartyrad [04:26:35] I was just reading the WMF privacy policy's summary here https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_policy#Information_We_Collect [04:27:41] It states that Wikimedia does collect certain info about the user's behaviour/tracking pixels etc. [04:28:28] So, for the dataset , how shall we go about creating it? I guess maybe track the activity on some kind of demo server of sorts? [04:29:08] Basically I wanted to refine my proposal to be a bit more clear as I felt my proposal descrived the dataset creation phase rather vaguely [04:29:15] no, just collect it in production [04:30:00] setting up a test server is always a good idea, but you won't be able to get useful data out of that [04:31:02] the person who ends up working on the project will have to sign an NDA to get access to the EventLogging database and use that to create a dataset [04:34:52] tgr: Oh I see. And what about the labelling of the data for the classification purpose? [04:35:32] smarita: you'd have to figure something out for that [04:35:52] after asking the people who deal with spambots [04:36:07] they probably have some kind of log for spam accounts [04:36:27] tgr: Yeah because otherwise it would be a rather tedious task to manually look into each example and label it . [04:37:06] well it's always an option [04:37:18] you can hire people on Mechanical Turk or something [04:37:23] but less than ideal [04:40:42] tgr: Ah I see. Thanks. Btw, any news about the extension of time for the proposals? I saw that outreachy have extended the deadline for only one organisation I.e. Kubernotes so far [04:41:43] do you feel you need it? all the proposals I have read seemed pretty close to finished for me [04:44:49] my understanding was that the deadline extension is for people who have not submitted an application at all yet til Oct 23 [04:44:57] Tgr: Not really. I mean , I have the last bit of my proposal left to do i.e. modify it based on your suggestions. So, the only thing I would do with the extra time would be to delay completing it 😅 [04:45:25] so if someone makes minor changes to the Phabricator task a day later I won't mind [04:45:48] the Outreachy form probably gets locked on Oct 23 but I'm not looking at that anyway [04:51:14] @tgr: Thanks, got it. I'll make my changes to the proposal ASAP. And if possible, kindly have a look at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/383299/ when you find time :) [04:52:10] that will probably be middle next week [04:52:19] but that task is not really urgent [04:54:17] tgr: Okay, no problem. I was asking about it just because it probably/ hopefully is at the brink of completion
