[08:11:14] might be handy if someone could explain to editors why the infobox positioning changed on mobile web. [09:36:22] thedj: We'll be sending out an update early next week. In a nutshell, for usability and consistency. On desktop, because of the placement of infoboxes, users are presented with the content of the article first, with the content of the infobox being secondary. On mobile, by placing the infobox first, we’re exposing details of the content prior to [09:36:22] introducing the subject. If an article is on an unknown topic to a user, sometime they have to scroll through the entire infobox to double-check that they’re reading the right thing. Moving the infobox after the lead gives it the secondary placement and exposes the subject prior to details [11:34:56] olliv: i'm just pointing out that sending out an update AFTER sending out the code and then getting people reporting on the helpdesk and village pumps who are confused about what has changed [11:35:22] olliv: with no place to direct them to... could be handled better. [11:42:18] thedj: Good point. I think from our point of view we were considering the change fairly self-explanatory, but you're right that communicating out immediately prior or during would have been better for all. Have there been any reports of confusion so far that you know of/can link me to?
