[15:29:06] hello all. Hope you have a great day! [15:30:22] I actually wanted to clarify one thing that has been bothering me since I saw the "file sizes" of the offline compilations for the android app. [15:31:14] Would I be able to specify a storage location of the offline compilations? [15:32:04] I guess not many (including me) would have that much free space in their internal stoorage. [16:29:53] pinging.... dbrant mdholloway: ^^^^ any thoughts? [16:30:19] kaartic: i'm just updating T130622 about that! [16:30:20] T130622: Allow saving pages to external storage - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T130622 [16:32:23] That's great, I'll catch up there. [16:34:04] BTW, something else that I've been wondering is, why isn't there any reply to the "play store reviews" of the apps. [16:34:36] People seem to be feeling for it, [16:34:42] "There'll be and extra star for my review if the devs take the time to reply." [16:34:50] https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wikipedia&reviewId=Z3A6QU9xcFRPRXhyOEwxbkYtQmFZY0xBTnV6ODJLTlZkSmRkVXNMcHFISGtoZkVIbmk2UmgxQkJCQm9FY0JWSkl5Z1hUMjIyNHBVNHhDMjVmMW1KVjVK [16:40:32] kaartic: yeah, i saw that one [16:40:57] we've discussed and generally agreed that people don't typically leave reviews hoping for direct feedback [16:41:04] nor might it necessarily even be a good idea [16:41:14] especially with our team as thin as it is at the moment [16:44:43] I thought you could make people even more happier by replying to the reviews such as this one, [16:44:50] "Pls. Make the app 100% offline so us student can access it without internet connection" [16:45:04] ... by letting them know about "offline compilations" [16:47:04] But the situations seem not to be favourable for the team. :/ [16:48:21] kaartic: The "offline compilations" feature is still a long way away. Replying to reviews with "we're working on it" does not help the user. [16:50:09] And anyway, the app is not currently suffering from negative reviews. We use Play Store reviews as a statistical aggregate of user sentiment. Of course we monitor all of the feedback and take it into account, but replying to all of them would not be feasible or productive. [16:51:13] Ok. You might be right. [16:51:34] BTW, I noticed the bug reported in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T172903 [16:52:10] Is it worth a "High" priority? [16:52:51] kaartic: yep, agreed. [17:15:27] have a great day, everyone! see you later.
