[00:16:38] @sharvani https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-services-mobileapps/blob/master/lib/feed/on-this-day.languages.js and https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-services-mobileapps/blob/master/routes/on-this-day.js [00:27:59] Thanks @mhurd [00:29:45] @sharvani you're welcome! very excited about your idea! [00:30:53] @dbrant's mostly ;) I was the spokesperson [00:34:53] @sharvani go team! :) [00:56:12] mhurd: sharvani: what's the idea? [00:59:51] bearND: oh on iOS the feed is fetching the on this day 'events', which is the full list, but it only shows one event per day based on a couple heuristics. the user only sees the full list if they tap the 'more events on this day' footer button. the idea is to use the on this day 'selected' endpoint for the feed since it's already a curated shorter list of events. then we'd choose one from that short list which [00:59:51] is already curated and so doesn't need the more arbitrary selection heuristic iOS is using presently. then we'd only fetch the full 'events' if the user actually tapped the 'more events on this day' footer [01:00:48] iirc that's how they're implementing it on android (or are in process of doing do). [01:01:28] (* the on this day 'selected' endpoint) [01:01:31] mhurd: Oh, right. Yeah. I'm surprised the selected endpoint wasn't used in the first place. [01:01:47] bearND: hehe my fault :) seems so obvious now hehe [01:02:11] mhurd: It's curated by editors, so it should be preferred. [01:02:18] bearND: exactly [01:02:49] :) [03:10:16] mhurd: thanks for explaining... bearND: sorry was stuck on bart ... :confounded: [03:14:35] No worries.
