[14:22:48] bearND|afk: when you get back, let me know if you're interested in enabling TFA and ITN for another wiki. [14:42:18] srdjan_m: Sure. I'm interested. [14:43:02] Okay. Well, ITN for sr.wiki should be pretty easy. [14:43:05] to do [14:43:21] it's identical to en.wiki [14:43:39] this is the template: https://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A8%D0%B0%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD:%D0%92%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8 [14:46:05] well, actually, they've got dates [14:49:55] srdjan_m: We could leave the dates in there if it's not too distracting. [14:51:30] hm... i don't know. they use the em-dash which takes up quite a bit of space for each card [14:51:40] on top of the dates, that is [14:54:05] srdjan_m: yeah, I would check it out on my Android device before I would release it anyways. [14:57:31] srdjan_m: The https://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%98%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8:Ffeed-featured-page doesn't seem to be set up yet. Strangely, I don't have permission to view the wikitext of this. [14:58:39] yeah, because that's a bit more complex than i had thought [14:58:42] originally [15:00:07] they use a template https://sr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%D0%A8%D0%B0%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD:%D0%98%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8_%D1%87%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BA&action=edit that uses another template https://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A8%D0%B0%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD:%D0%98%D0%A7 to determine when to show the featured article [15:00:12] srdjan_m: I also think this wiki is a bit more tricky because it has language variants. [15:00:54] yeah, maybe not the best idea to do that right now, but ITN should be easy as it's always in cyrillic. [15:01:44] i can probably help with similar languages though, like sh.wiki, mk.wiki, sl.wiki or something like that. [15:02:12] srdjan_m: That would be great. Thank you for your help! [15:02:46] by the way, any update on 'on this day' for bs.wiki? [15:06:06] srdjan_m: I started writing a patch. I'll probably push it to Gerrit next week. It seems to work by itself, meaning just in Mobile Content Service. When I ran it with a local RESTBase instance for some reason it didn't pick up the new language, so I want to see if there was something wrong with my local setup. [15:09:10] oh, ok. cool. [15:11:39] srdjan_m: I probably should qualify the "it worked" a bit more. When I add a new language to onthisday I also run a test with goes through all the days of the year to see if there are results returned. I got results for every day in the 'selected' . But it did notice that on this wiki there are many pages that don't have any detected holidays. The few I manually checked onwiki didn't have anything there. So, I assume this is fine. But [15:11:39] you would probably a better judge of this since you know this wiki better. [15:12:23] bearND: Yeah, a lot of them don't have holidays. [15:12:53] There's a heading for them, but most of them are empty, I think. [15:13:25] or they have a cleanup tag, something like {{expand section}} or something [15:15:25] Yeah. That's right. I remember seeing that template being used. [15:16:54] I think that's probably fine then. The most important ones are the 'selected' anniversaries, which show up directly in the Explore feed. To get to the other ones you'd have to tap on See more or somethign like that. [15:17:14] yeah, that makes sense. [15:18:07] ITN doesn't require a feed, right? if so, i guess that'd be easier to set up than to go on each wiki and ask a local sysop to make it [15:18:09] unless someone else can do it instead [15:34:42] Well, ITN doesn't require one at this time. Longer-term we do prefer having that piece of configuration be done on-wiki instead of in the service code.
