[00:04:30] dsaez: looks like halfak|net_derp could come to the rescue when he’s back – I haven’t used the SQL replicas in ages [00:05:09] ok! thx [00:05:18] leila, Nettrom, bearloga ^ [00:06:43] dsaez: I haven’t used that library, I instead have a simple wrapper around MySQLdb/pymysql that connects me to the databases and gives me a cursor that I execute queries with [00:06:57] IIRC mwdb is more oriented towards SQL Alchemy? [00:07:00] yo, i can answer questions about sql replicas in general and the wmf R package for querying them (https://github.com/wikimedia/wikimedia-discovery-wmf) but have 0 experience with mwdb python lib [00:07:45] yep, I'm reading the code and aparently it's just wrapper for sqlachemy when using sql replicas [00:07:50] also in a meeting, so might be slow to respond ;) [00:10:25] I was trying using with mwreverts lib [00:11:04] apparently, can be replaced using direclty with sqlalchemy, as you said Nettrom [00:53:33] dsaez: I’ve only worked with mwreverts once, and if I remember correctly all I did was feed it the checksums and such, so it didn’t require a specific SQL library. Might’ve changed since then, though. [01:03:48] halfak|net_derp / halfak|Network_d: FYI, just wanted to give you a heads-up that I'm planning to mention you and your paramecium very briefly in a slide of tomorrow's metrics meeting [01:06:37] guillom: looking forward, and grabbing popcorn [01:06:39] :) [01:06:50] DarTar_clone: héhéhé [01:07:53] DarTar_clone: I also passed on your comment about OA not being in that ecosystem map. The map will be in that same Metrics presentation (but it won't have been updated yet). [01:08:36] guillom: thanks, I understand it’s not “representative” but I feel our OA peeps would have been bummed [01:08:53] * guillom will not do the strategy presentation with memes or emojis this time, but will still aim to entertain. [01:09:01] and I think it points to a persisting lack of understanding of OA’s relation’s to our movemebt [01:09:04] oh neat ha ha [01:09:44] DarTar_clone: Looking forward to catching up with you some time in the next few weeks so you can tell me all about how we should include OA in the next phase, then! [01:10:04] sounds good [01:12:19] alright folks, I’m out of this coffee shop and chat o/ [01:14:43] Nettrom, the library suppose to have a method to do exactly that, just be giving the rev_id, but apparently is not working. http://pythonhosted.org/mwreverts/db.html [01:15:05] I'll try to do what you suggest tomorrow [01:15:11] now I'm going to sleep :) [01:15:13] good night [16:22:39] soo, miriam: while you're waiting for the official invitation for the metrics meeting, some info for you. [16:23:16] miriam: this is a monthly meeting which takes place usually in the last Thursday of the months. the theme changes each time, but think of it as the place for updates from WMF, chapters, community. [16:23:35] miriam: the format has been changing quite a bit. [16:24:17] miriam: it's a public meeting. anyone with the YouTube link can watch it. discussions happen primarily in #wikimedia-office IRC channel on freenode. you talk to other people there about it, and you ask questions from the presenters through that channel. [16:24:39] miriam: if you are in office, you can ask questions in person usually. On IRC, there is an IRC moderator who collects questions. [16:25:27] great :) got it! [16:25:56] miriam: I pretty much always watch the meeting live or watch it offline. I haven't seen any communication communicated there that is not communicated over email and other mediums, so if you miss it, it's not the end of the world, imo. but I recommend attending it: it's a soft approach to stay in the loop and connected. [16:26:03] (I'll stop here;) [16:26:30] and I think it's very useful for me, since I just joined [16:26:44] there will be definitely acronyms I don't get :) [16:27:30] miriam: just ask if that happens. we are awful with acronyms. ;P [16:28:31] questions can be asked on the wikimedia-office IRC, right? [16:28:46] correct, miriam. [16:28:49] (I am still very slow) [16:28:51] (sorry) [16:30:10] miriam: usually James_F takes them. whoever takes questions, they will say it in the channel that questions should be directed to them. so what you will do is that you ping their name in the public channel and you say: I have a question for person x. this is my question. [16:30:21] miriam: it will become clearer as other people start doing it. [16:32:43] ok, thanks! [17:13:06] welcome, miriam! [17:13:33] * guillom is behind on staff-list-welcome-emails. [17:26:13] :) thank you guillom! [17:51:09] * leila waves at guillom [18:02:50] Hey leila :)
