[19:26:06] jaufrecht: was that yours? ^ [19:26:49] Yes [19:27:22] jaufrecht: can you say more about what that is/what it's about? [19:29:31] it's an exercise I did in grad school [19:29:39] it's a live role play of a negotiation situation [19:29:45] i.e., we break into pairs for it [19:30:34] jaufrecht: like hostage negotiation or more like salary negotiation or other? [19:30:36] Harvard's Program on Negotiation has a bunch of scenarios (http://www.pon.harvard.edu/shop/category/workplace-disputes-simulations/ for example), but the [19:31:09] the one that I did, and have since run for others, is a basic negotiation that gives you direct, structured experience with the baseline concepts [19:31:15] ah cool [19:31:40] not a touchy-feely thing like the Wikileads roleplays, but still a very intense experience. more like paintball. [19:31:58] if everyone feels comfortable with negotiation basics, there are a bunch of more complicated ones [19:32:28] that sounds neat [19:32:33] tpg paintball also sounds neat [19:33:01] "This exercise is an excellent vehicle for comparing principled negotiation and positional bargaining." [19:33:32] Or, "Six-party, multi-issue, scoreable negotiation among representatives of a port developer, labor union, environmental coalition, other regional ports, governor's office, and department of coastal resources over a proposal to build a new deep-water port" [19:33:44] I think we actually did that one, now that I think about it. it was complicated. [19:34:03] that sounds rather complicated [19:35:44] i've never had any real instruction/training in negotiation, i think that would be quite useful [21:02:03] I want to be the governor
