[20:35:49] Hey addshore [20:36:15] Hey tos. [20:36:23] * halfak is also hoping to chat with addshore. :) [20:37:34] * tos notices that every time he pings addshore the reply is one order of magnitude later than last time [20:37:40] Also hey halfak [20:38:03] sorry, looking at something time critical right now ;p [20:38:09] tos, better stop pinging him or we're going to start operating on a cosmic scale soon. [20:38:13] no worries. [20:39:10] Well last time I pinged, the response time was 15 days. What could possibly go wrong this time? [20:40:49] 150 days tos. 150 days is like a half year. [20:41:21] Then, the next time it's like 4 years [20:42:32] You're 6 pings away from crossing the millennia. [20:43:04] Well the longest estimated completion time for a code I compiled was half the age of the universe. I wonder how many pings before I cross that [20:43:50] 10 [20:43:52] 10 pings [20:44:48] ... actually, it's more like 11. [20:45:04] That'll get you to 4.1 billion years. [20:45:36] BUT it sounds like add_shore (no ping) is going to get to know about the heat death of the universe. [20:46:24] 11 pings. Thats quite a number of them before I get there [20:51:43] halfak tos im here! [20:52:13] tos, you're first [20:52:27] feel free to both talk at the same time :P [20:52:38] god only knows how long ill talk back to you for ;p [20:53:19] hehe. [20:53:34] addshore, do you still do work with Huggle? [20:53:44] yup [20:54:29] I was just given a free pass to do some research work around Huggle some time in the near future. [20:54:39] :D [20:55:01] Not that I needed an invitation, it just that I might have time. I was hoping to talk to you about ideas and maybe submit come code. [20:55:23] I see that Huggle3 is coming out. [20:56:02] halfak: go for it :) [20:56:14] your not the first and im sure you wont be the last person doing research around huggle :) [20:57:14] Certainly not. One of the things I was hoping to look into were ways to incorporate more information about the user whose edit is being reviewed into the UI. [20:58:27] I see that there's an editor history visualization. [20:59:25] yup [20:59:34] have you seen both huggle 2 and huggle 3 then? :) [20:59:59] I haven't seem more than the manual for Huggle 3 -- which seems to be more fleshed out than when I last checked. [21:02:08] Anyway, one of the things that I've been working on is this desirability score that is a relatively good predictor of good-faith newbiews. I'm interested in exploring ways to make it easier to identify good newcomers who make mistakes (high desirability score) for which a personal interaction would be a good use of someone's time. [21:03:19] :) sounds yummy! [21:03:47] well, naturally feel free to submit whatever patches you want :) HG3 is in c++ using QT [21:03:54] Cool. How do you think it's best to get started. Should I introduce myself on the mailing list -- or join up on the IRC channel? [21:04:06] best bet is to join the channel #huggle [21:04:16] currently still only have 2 main developers [21:04:24] petan / petrb is the most active [21:04:55] since HG3 is in c++ rather than HG2 that was in vb.net we have seem, in my opinion, more contributions to code :) [21:05:12] That's great. :) [21:06:05] My C++ is a little rusty. I actually ended up teaching a couple of intro software engineering courses on C++, but that doesn't make me a competent engineer. I guess we'll see. [21:07:07] Eek. Now I have to run. [21:07:16] You should hear from me soon. :)
