2021-02-28 14:52:31 <hispano76> greets
2021-02-28 16:07:21 <MH-Discord> <Doug> hi @Hispano76 ๐Ÿ™‚
2021-02-28 16:13:44 <JohnLewis> dmehus: can you explain your recent revdels? I canโ€™t see a need or justification myself
2021-02-28 16:14:16 <MH-Discord> <MrJaroslavik> ^agree
2021-02-28 16:20:16 <MH-Discord> <MrJaroslavik> Also why oversight every edit from IP adress without any request?
2021-02-28 16:41:26 <dmehus> JohnLewis, there's no policy on revision deletions; it's largely based on common sense. The thinking here is that the really long nonsense vandalism clutters up the page histories. Note that I didn't revision delete the content, only the summaries, and I did peer review it with Reception123 who said it was a tad unconventional, but did see a use case
2021-02-28 16:42:08 <MH-Discord> <MrJaroslavik> Oh, as always - "there is no policy"
2021-02-28 16:42:14 <MH-Discord> <DarkMatterMan4500> I was about to ask why he added it, then deleted it.
2021-02-28 16:44:11 <MH-Discord> <R4356th> While I agreed with the deletion, I just thought it would be worth noting that you doing a "peer review" with Reception123 is canvassing ([[w:WP:CANVAS]]).
2021-02-28 16:44:12 <MH-Discord> <Wiki-Bot> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:CANVAS
2021-02-28 16:44:12 <MirahezeBot> [WIKIPEDIA] WP:CANVAS | "In general, it is perfectly acceptable to notify other editors of ongoing discussions, provided that it be done with the intent to improve the quality of the discussion by broadening participation to more fully achieve consensus.Canvassing is notification done with the intention of influencing the outcome..."
2021-02-28 17:52:05 <Zppix> Just because theres no policy doesnt mean it should be used at free will
2021-02-28 17:52:21 <MH-Discord> <MrJaroslavik> ^
2021-02-28 17:53:11 <Zppix> Im frankly getting tired of people in general using lack of policy as an excuse for their actions
2021-02-28 17:53:30 <Zppix> We shouldnt need a policy for everything
2021-02-28 19:02:01 <MH-Discord> <Lake> uh, can a moveBatch be done?
2021-02-28 19:02:30 <MH-Discord> <Lake> For some reason, the CSV I imported didn't detect the "File:" prefix
2021-02-28 19:02:40 <MH-Discord> <Lake> so it created normal pages
2021-02-28 19:04:20 <dmehus> @Lake, yep, it can. Reception123 just did one not too long for BurningPrincess1
2021-02-28 19:05:00 <MH-Discord> <Lake> oh, alright, thanks :)
2021-02-28 19:05:10 <dmehus> I believe the syntax for your *.txt file is:
2021-02-28 19:05:10 <dmehus> ```Old page name including namespace (if any)|New page name including namespace (if any)```, one per line
2021-02-28 19:05:15 <dmehus> @Lake, np :)
2021-02-28 19:07:00 <MH-Discord> <Lake> and another thing. Is it possible to hide, merge or even delete history of pages? Would be good if those pages I'm moving didn't had that warning saying "there was a page here and it was move"
2021-02-28 19:07:04 <MH-Discord> <Lake> moved*
2021-02-28 19:07:54 <dmehus> @Lake, that should be possible, yes, I believe there's a delete old revisions script
2021-02-28 19:08:07 <dmehus> but I'm not as familiar with the configuration parameters of that script
2021-02-28 19:19:38 <MH-Discord> <Lake> did it, [[phab:T6914]]
2021-02-28 19:19:39 <MH-Discord> <Wiki-Bot> https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T6914
2021-02-28 19:19:40 <MirahezeBot> [ โš“ T6914 MoveBatch a list of pages ] - phabricator.miraheze.org
2021-02-28 19:35:41 <dmehus> thanks, Lake
2021-02-28 19:41:15 <dmehus> @Lake, did you want Reception123 to run `createLocalAccount.php` first, to force attach Move page script to your wiki so you can `bot` flag it and prevent RC flooding?
2021-02-28 19:42:10 <MH-Discord> <Lake> not really, I didn't know it flooded RC (as far I remember, deletebatch did not)
2021-02-28 19:56:25 <dmehus> @Lake, not too badly, yeah, but it will show up in the `(Deletion log)` or `(Move log)` in RC
2021-02-28 19:56:46 <dmehus> You can always bot flag it after the script is run, for next time, if you want
2021-02-28 19:57:12 <MH-Discord> <Lake> well, it can, or not, doesn't really make a difference for now, the logs will disappear after I made a lot of other edits, right? :P
2021-02-28 19:57:23 <dmehus> @Lake yeah
2021-02-28 19:57:48 <dmehus> and you're also the only main contributor to that wiki, so not really an issue from that perspective as well
